Wish I had seen the your OP first as I would have snatched your hand off. Back in the UK for a week in October and will probably try to get a PC then to bring back as the prices and choice here in Italy are pretty poor. If I had enough time I would read up on parts, spec, source and build my own but even that can be pricey if you don't have the supplier contacts. Also never sure which graphics wins out e.g.

Hd 6950s vs NVidia cards. The price does not seem to correlate to quality/performance when it comes to the different makes.

The last one I built to order had a £650 graphics card in that was obsolete before I had delivered it as they change so often, I had to talk him out of putting 2 in. (more money than sense). I personally like NVidea just because I have never had a problem with one where the Radeon had a few hiccups along the line. Some of the best offers I have had for graphics cards have been from Maplin as they always have some on offer, otherwise I source normally from Scan.co.uk (Under the Reebock) they have never let me down and they also have excellent offers.

Thanks for that. I have to say my Samsung R780 laptop is a mobility Radeon HD 5470 and has been well behaved although I have had NVidia cards for most of my PCs
