Agreed otherwise you can end up in a position like where Flitcroft and Hill signed their mates. But i will say that if the head coach doesn't have all the control, those also making the decisions should have some accountability and be in the firing line aswell should things not go to plan.
When you think of it like this, a collegiate approach, the manager is paid a premium on the understanding that he will take the fall when the system fails….. if you want out, you just have to engineer a falling out over the agreed policies and get your premium paid up…… all very odd…..

The problem with the Napoleon dictatorship model of football management is it leaves you with a rebuild everytime your manager either leaves or gets sacked, because the next guy in does the same thing- “I want all my own people and I make all the decisions on purchases and I don’t want to work with the last guys team.” Whereas when you have a coach working in a structure you can change the coach without rebuilding the house every time.
