But if the football that's played, that's ruled from above is boring the t1ts off the bulk of the fans.. you may have a problem. Especially if with every change of coach nothing on the field changes choose who is head coach..
The cynic in me says that the club still subscribes to the view that conman let slip- we got success on the pitch but it didn’t translate to success on the transfer balance sheet - so that’s the focus, unfortunately.
I'm not sure apart from this season you can say its not been exciting football. Mind you people didn't like Val's brand, so.....
Thought both Duff and Val were fine.. maybe we could head back a bit more in that direction now our Man City link isn't here any more..
Coach needs to be able to set up the players at his disposal in the way he sees fit, whether that be 532, 433, 35433, or whatever. He has to be given freedom to sort out the team on the pitch as best as he can. He's theoretically the expert so trust him. There may be a club approach to youth teams, systems that the club develops but again, for the first team, especially if things aren't working the coach should be boss. No question. Similarly he needs to have SOME say in recruitment if he's trying to build and he's aware of the overall club ethos. In other words the coach should be the main driver of the first team and should be allowed to be so by the board as long as they've explained the budget to him. He should also say 'no' to the board if he thinks we'll be stronger with player x than by selling him if it builds the team in the longer term. I could say more but ill be here all day....
Yeah I agree in part with what you say. The thing what gets me and I’m sure it does a lot of folk, is the the non footballing people upstairs dictating what style of play we implement. Then identifying players who are neither good enough by a long shot, or players who can’t play in said style. Case in question why we’ve ended up with a massively bloated squad this season and professional players who could at times barely string 2 passes together. They seriously need to consider their recruitment policy.
I've thought about this today and I don't think it Will be duff.I think they are waiting for Williamson or McCann.
I agree that ultimately it's those at the top who are mainly responsible for whether the club succeeds. But I also think with regards to recruitment it is often a team effort, which includes the manager's input.
They may not have clubs lined up but foolish saying goodbyes unless they've been negotiating with several and not yet come to a pre contract agreement (weighing up their options) which is allowable 6 months afore the present one runs out. They'll still be getting paid by us till 30th June. A new manager may persuade em to stay if better offers dont turn up. But we have to be in a position to try persuade others to come and say bye lads. Lots of players end up without a club well into a new season and it sometimes bites em on the arse.
Is there a good one. Cos I can't remember the last time we tried to find another red shirt from any of the buggers. Head and hope.
Money talks. If we offer more than them he'd come. That's a big if though with us. We also have a much higher chance of getting back to championship than them. I know that sounds very Sheffield Wed of me to say but it's true.
The suggestion that Duff has said he'd return if he has control also suggests he last last time because he hadn't ..
