I also have a mate who is a Sikh and is in a job where it would be inappropriate for him to take his dagger. He, and thousands of other Sikhs I am sure, now where a symbolic dagger which can not be construed as being dangerous. How do they manage on flights?
He could possibly wear it discreetly but I guarantee you if it came out or was in public view he'd be locked up without hesitation. Best not to bother.
Not reight up on this subject but dunt 3 or 4 of em sit near Fergie at Old Trafford. always ont tele.
"Earlier this year concerns were raised about airport security after a group of Sikh priests were allowed to board an Air New Zealand flight carrying kirpans (ceremonial knives). Singh said aviation security staff needed to be educated about the Sikh religion so they understood that the kirpan was a religious symbol, not a weapon. He added that Sikhs were happy to stow the kirpan in their luggage but if someone forgot and accidentally walked through a metal detector with one, he should not be automatically treated like a criminal. He should instead be given the chance to remove the kirpan and place it in his luggage." So if it is acceptable not to wear it during a long haul flight then surely leaving it at home for a match shouldn't be a problem.
The Sikh Referee Does that mean the he has a knife when he's refereeing? It would certainly stop dissent if the players knew
Why not just wear approriate clothing to be at a football match the religion does not state that at all but any excuse eh to try and be special.
Speaking as an atheist It would greatly offend me to see someone wearing religious dress at a football match and would affect my human rights not to be exposed to that kind of thing.
Well ive read all the messages, thanks for some of the advice given, looks like I wont be going to any live games. PS Sikhs must at all times wear their 5ks, its about discipline and love.
I think the referee you mean is Jarnail Singh <img src ="http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/52797849.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF19390335F8FA9CA92A6755D5B8B65978B66A245704FE6840619">
Speaking to a sikh at work they are not usually allowed to take these into a football ground and they either have to live with that or don't go to the footy match. For air travel they usually place them into luggage, again it is either do that or don't fly.
