It would cost a pretty penny, no doubt about that, and yes some of the gate staff would have to go. At least it would stop some of them slipping cash in their back pockets and defrauding the club of much needed income.

I've no idea how much such a system will cost but surely it will have to come one day.

Bit harsh on the gate staff, Stahl.

But in the 1970's my mate's Dad was on one of the turnstiles, and used to let us climb over and get in for free. It only happened a few times, mind! :D

Someone at Bellend Rd in front of me said words to the effect of 'this is how to do tickets. straight through, not fcukin about with the $hit we have'. i pointed out he'd just paid £36 for the ticket, but he didn't seem too interested.

It's not harsh, it's a fact, I've seen it with my own eyes. I've reported it to the club on 2 occasions (not recently) but they were reluctant to do anything about it.

I'm sure it's a small minority but it's a fact that it has happened.

Agreed, not been to that horrible place for years because of the prices. Used to love it too as we always seemed to do well there, and the locals couldn't get their heads round losing to Tarn.

Shame there isn`t someone who lives close to the ground and with a bit of spare time on their hands could make a bob or two undercutting the £1.50.

    Or is there?

Can't argue with what you've seen, but I would have thought the attendant had to make the stubs and cash tally with the numbers that had gone through that turnstile?

Peterborough United offer "Print At Home Tickets" - and they are free!!

    From their website:

"Fans can now buy and print their match ticket at home.

TicketFast is an extremely simple, yet revolutionary way to purchase your match tickets for London Road, and has been made possible by the installation of the Ticketmaster Access Manager system installed over recent months.

Simply select "TicketFast - Print at Home" as the delivery option at checkout and your ticket(s) will be emailed to you as an attachment. You can then print the tickets in your own time, and present the ticket at the turnstile to be scanned into the ground on match day. This service is FREE OF CHARGE.

    How does TicketFast work?
Fast, simple and Convenient. Choose TicketFast as your delivery method when completing the payment for your tickets and we will send you an email confirmation with your tickets attached as a PDF file within 10 minutes. The email will contain all the help you need for saving and printing your tickets. Tickets for friends can be forwarded to them – they can print their own. "

This is probably a daft question but is the ticketmaster fee more to Barnsley FC than the hourly wage, lighting, heating, electrical costs and so on of allowing people to buy in the ticket office? In other words there is no booking fee for buying in the ticket office despite it having costs to the club but there is for buying online so is the cost to the club significantly higher online than in person?

Also any idea why the phoneline is premium rate? I don't understand that as there is no additional cost to the club

This isn't a moan at the club it's a general thing about thousands of companies

No offence, Gally, but I am still waiting a response from you to my post above. In other words, an alternative to the corner shop approach doesn't have to cost anything, if Peterborough United are to be believed!!!

Can you defend Ticketmaster's surcharges now????

Basically the club are allowing Ticket Master to charge Barnsley fans £1.50 per ticket to provide absolutely no service whatsoever. And some people think that's a good hing. Bonkers.

Rotherham do that but charge a pound, quite cheeky since it's your paper and ink you're using, well done Peterborough.
