They've a full week together now, on the training pitch. I don't think we've any need to fear Doncaster. They don't score many, but they're on a better run of late with only one defeat in their last seven. Just two points ahead of us though so a win would be very welcome, and make it three out of three Yorkshire derby victories.
There is nobody likes a discussion about tactic more than me. However, for the last month I have deliberately abstained. The reason I have abstained is that with so many players injured and so many kids in the team, any tactically subtleties have been overtaken by the necessity of getting a result by any means that we can. You see, it is only worth talking about tactics when you relate them to players with the knowledge and experience to carry the plan through. Just at the moment, the players that are turning out for us have loads of raw talent, loads of potential but little experience. It is pointless giving them a plan, they just have to do what they know they can do. This is even more apt when trying to play through a wind. Yeovil may not have been great, but they were motivated, they were strong and they had experience. These qualities more than make up for raw talent and my view is that our young team did well to prevail under the circumstances. If that team turns out at Doncaster, they will lose and it is my hope that we have more of the older players fit, and that we have a good week on the training field getting to know one another before our trip to the Keepmoat. Finally, criticism has to be put into context in order for it to be valid. To moan about a team of kids chucked together in 48 hours is to totally ignore context in order to points score due to some ulterior motive, especially when they have won.
