''On Saturday's viewing, Abbott and Digby reminded me of David Fox. They're not holding midfielders and if we play one of them alongside Hourihane we'll be bullied out of every game'' Agree with the above, lets hope Wilson Hutchins and Mansford can see it and get the right players in.
Just been thinking Whitey. Hassell could do it but what about Cranie???????? When he first came to the club he played DM, maybe against Boro at Oakwell and I remember him doing well.
Can't comment on Abbott as I have yet to see him play but I think Digby has more to his game than that. However, the current state of CMs in the game in general is a concern. The box to box player who can do a bit of everything is now obsolete and has been replaced by the pointless six yard square ball ***** like Jordan Henderson.
This is it though, Phil. Do we play three central midfielders? Because if we don't, I see no chance for Digby. Until he adds more to his repertoire.
We played 4-4-2. Jennings and Jim wide, Mellis and Frimpong central. Jim got the winner after 5 minutes. It was a ***** game, Millwall were *****, and Frimpong was very good at winning the ball by hook or crook. Still got booked, mind. And Dawson replaced Mellis at half time.
All it says to me is that he was a complete waste of money and lacked any desire or motivation to earn his wage.
Liked Doyle, not a brilliant player by any stretch of the imagination but very effective & I remember us going on a long unbeaten run with him in the team. Him & Colace were a very effective partnership. Only one that's got near it since was Drinkwater & Perkins but we only saw that for a couple of months. I'd have Doyle back to be fair. A strong, good tackling midfielder is exactly what we need
