If you mean Lenovo, I have used them for years and so have 200 people I know. Keyboards are rubbish. I would never part personal money for one. Best I have had for ages as an HP. However I mainly use Mac's at home so don't claim to be an expert.

I like HP laptops personally. Got my son a decent Acer Aspire for Xmas (rest of the Acer range ain't too great I'm told).

Lenovo are awful imo. The spyware/adware has been fixed iirc but I wouldn't trust them after that.

Have they dropped the 'red dot' thing now for a normal trackpad, I've not used one for years - my first laptop was an IBM Thinkpad running Windows 98 when I was about 19, I basically did nothing for months to save up for it, cost about 2 grand and my salary at the time was only about £9000. Used to treat it like a newborn baby but I really got used to using the red dot for moving the cursor, when it was finally time to part with it I bought an HP and always felt the trackpad was a step back from the red dot.

My advice: Almost all laptops and their components are made in China. Don't buy based on the name, they've all got the same innards, buy on spec. I'd find the cheapest out there with an SSD drive because that's biggest factor at the moment that will affect performance.
