We're not exactly spoilt for choice at the back, give him a go see how he gets on. Sad for Vale though, great old club.

I love the way some folk have already made their mind up, mate

Before the lad has even signed, never mind play a game for us. When did some Barnsley fans develop such small minded, snobbish, condescending attitudes towards new players? They've decided he can't have any ability and is incapable of performing at Championship level, simply because he currently plays for Port Vale.
If he does sign, for goodness sake let's give the lad a chance to prove himself and I don't mean after a mere one or two games. At the risk of repeating myself, I seem to have little in common these days with many fellow Barnsley supporters.

    Andy Holt? Tony Bed-whatdyacallit?

PS - assuming it's gonna be a loan followed by signing in the Summer.

I KNOW we can't afford those types. But are you telling me when it comes to signings it's either expensive championship players or lower league cheap signings with nothing in between? Not every prem/champ player is on massive money. We had better hope in the summer we bring in some experience or next season on increased ST prices is going to be a long season.

It beggers belief it really does!! If he does as well as McNulty and Wiseman have for us i'll be more than happy!! I like how our manager and coaches develop players. Ask Butterfield - Drinkwater -Vaz Te - La Fondre - Dagnall - Dawson - Ect Ect about playing in the lower leagues and furthering their career under Hill and Flicker........

I'm glad I know bugger all about football

It must be a huge burden to carry around all that knowledge & expertise some obviously possess and having to educate us less fortunate individuals!:D

It must also be devastating having such expertise and knowledge and not be working within football. What a waste.

Wiseman has been good going forward recentky but is still suspect defensively for me.

    No, but

If we fill the team with that quality of player we'll go down.

    I'm sorry but we will.

    Disagree. I think!!

Think Wiseman will come into his own next season and establish himself has first choice right back.

I do know the point your making though.........

    Re: No, but

I never claim to be the most optimistic Barnsley fan. But I don't think I'm Mr Grumpytrousers either. However, I'm just dreading next season. The quality of player we've brought in under Hill, with the honourable exception of Vaz Te (and sometimes Davies), isn't Championship standard and we no longer have a team capable of competing at this level.

Butterfield and Vaz Te carried this team for 5 months and thankfully put enough points on the board that will almost certainly prevent relegation this season. But they won't be here next season and their replacements are vastly inferior.

I realise this opens me up to abuse from certain quarters but I'm afraid it is a reality that everyone is going to have to face sooner or later.

Who's better? Jimmy McNulty or Jay McEverley.

    Point proven.

He's on loan because you can't complete a permanent move now

He'll be joining permanently in the summer by the sounds.

So it's not like signing someone on loan from two divisions below like it would be before the new transfer regulations.
