    That's a very good point

Everything on one site. Very few clubs are in that position. I remember Craig Hignett once saying it's a major factor for endearing the club to players, even when they've left for pastures new.

Oakwell any day of the week.

It's still got character (added to by the fact it's surrounded by terraced streets), is close to the town centre, an atmosphere can be made when the Ponty gets going and when there is a large away following and it's been our home since the very beginning of Barnsley FC and it would be a sad day if we were ever to leave.

Whilst some away fans complain about the parking situation, a lot do compliment Oakwell on it's character, it's proximity to the town centre and the fact that we can give big away allocations if needed so it aint all bad!

Personally, I couldn't give a **** whether it takes the away fans a long time to get away after the game and I certainly would not dream of us basing any decisions on relocating on such trivia.

Not that this thread is anything other than wishful thinking anyway - we haven't enough money to paint the bogs, never mind relocate, even if we wanted to, which most us don't I imagine.

We've enough money to tidy the ground up, we have championship income, charge £28 a game and have the smallest wage bill in the league, sometimes the noise coming out of Oakwell is like that of a league 2 club on 3k gates.

The only thing i would change about oakwell is the west stand, Knock it down build a new 2 tier job like the east but better, make it the main part of the ground again with the changing rooms and tunnel, then to full both corners in i'd build two proper pubs one for home fans one for away fans, where the training ground is i'd build a 40 bed hotel and 15 one bed self contained apartments, throw in the use of one of the training pitches with the use of the hotel and clubs from all over the country will be scrambling to use it when they play in Yorkshire the apartments could be rented to our loan players and such like would save the club a fortune and make them a few quid too if run right

The location of the WELL is great - next door to the town centre and transport centre, so no complaints there.
But it would be good to improve the ground. To do it would need a lot of thought because I wouldn't want to lose the charecter of the West Stand but then again it would be better if this stand was vastly improved.
The main thing is that there is space around the ground so there can be improvements. Not many clubs have all that space.

This is a big if, but if we ever got to the top flight with a bit of stability, then if the West Stand was made same as East Stand, and Ponty was made same size as North and the corner between Ponty and West filled in with seats Oakwell would be a cracking ground.

I love it how it is now though.

I'd imagine that would be a regular occurrence. Some weeks they'll do well to get 300 away fans.

The West could never be made as big of the East, it would be a single tier, that curved into the Ponty with a roof.
