On what I've watched today. The recruitment needs to be good this summer. We need more motability in midfield. Too static. We also need someone to link defence to attack. Nobody breaks the lines resulting in sideways passes and the hoof.

I'm actually glad Williams, Cole, Cadden and Kane are out of contract. Not got owt against them individually but they play week in, week out because of reputation rather than attainment.

New broom sweeps clean. Doesn't matter who is in dug out. Might be a blessing new guy comes in after those 4 have f cuke d off.

Definitely wouldn't waste money appointing someone for Play-Offs this team will get arse oiled by Bolton

 

But if you have Williams in a center back role you are able to play with a higher line. Collins used Williams at center half but never really had a high line or got on the front foot and when trying to defend a lead we never had the defence good enough to do that.

I don't think pace or height is the main problem it's just the recruitment not been good enough even early season like I said shipping 3 to Horsham, defensive line all over the place week in week out.

But signing players from ponty colliers and non league and expecting them all to morph into ephan pinnock is quite stupid and I think that's what fans are sick to death of now, we were linked to mattie pollock at the start of the season when kitch left. Instead of loaning mcart and getting Shepherd and lopata why not just 1 decent defender quality over quantity. That's a big part of the problem aswell.

 

Until we change our recruitment strategy, it doesn’t matter who we have as HC imo.

 

This is up there with the worst Barnsley sides I've seen. Totally bereft.

People mentioned stendel and hecky but they've already achieved things here.. thanks for the memories but don't want them back look at Wilsons 2nd spell no thanks. Duff did okay but achieved nothing. I'd have him back let him have a go to achieve the goal of promotion.

 

I agree with that. Scattergun recruitment is a big problem. It’s left us with 20 players on the books going into next season but nowhere close to a top 6 side. Same issues up front as we have at centre back.

 

I think Lopata and Shepherd are better than Williams and MDF.

Williams was outstanding today. He's the only defender we have with any pace. He's also good at spotting danger.
