Redfearn would be a terrible choice for me, for the reasons already mentioned. Personally I'd give Devaney a crack. He knows the Club, the fans, the town and will have players' respect. Right now those things are probably more important than anything else, for me.
After 3 german/austrain headcoaches now,I can't see a homegrown manager in the frame ....not a chance!
Tbh I still think of Hendrie as a player rather than a failed manager and Redders was with us for longer. Can't see it happening though.
I’d like to see Devaney given a go too but he’s still working towards his UEFA pro license. I could be wrong but I think you need that as a prerequisite to manage at Championship level or above.
If we were going for an English manager Ryan Lowe is doing a fantastic job at Plymouth so he would definitely be on my radar. obviously we will appoint someone from the Austrian u12s league but a chap can dream.
Doesn’t bring many through from the juniors/23’s to the first team like Winstanley did consistently so it would be a no from me.
I'd give Alex Neil a ring offer him a deal untill end of season see what he can do. Sooner we get shut the better because we're going down under schopp
Better than me in the early 80s then. Got more "not tonight's" in Josephine's than Napoleon could ever have dreamt of.
still developed here. Most players we get access to these days will have come through other academies like Brown did. They still need to be developed by the u23 staff.
The team promoted to prem had a fair share of “homegrown” talent, the talent is out there in and around S.Yorkshire if you look hard enough.
The Star are even mentioning Redders to possibly get our job...... https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...ham-join-race-to-sign-stoke-city-star-3422672 He's my Barnsley hero. My all time favourite who gave me some excellent seasons to watch as a young lad. But he's done absolutely nothing in his managerial career so shouldn't be anywhere near our top job. Part of the coaching staff? Possibly but not the head coach position. He would only be given the job based on his time a quarter of a century ago playing for us.
Would bring some "Barnsley " back to the club and a bit of grit. Not sure how he's doing at the Blunts but they seem to win a fair few games.
dunno, you're probably right. just think of that though, a world where Markus Schopp is deemed qualified enough to manage in the Championship
