    I'm always discrete thats why I said PM me. I see there were two lads signed on that day but I dont have details of the signing number. I have copies of the Football League Ledgers which record all Professional contracts and certain other forms recorded by a club. I see one the Amateurs at that time was Roger Hansbury, he went on to have a fine career after being shown the door at Oakwell.

    A good friend of mine, his career took off at Norwich. We were in the same class at worsbrough high school.

    My Mum used to do the Home Help for his Gran in West Melton and it took me ages to make the connection. We certainly missed out on a good un there and he would have probably played right through the Promotion sides of 79 and 81.

    Another player we turned down was John Radford who went on to win the double at Arsenal in 1970-71. I was told that he kept his rejection letter from Barnsley in his wallet and used to bring it out as a talking point.
