I am sure we have all done this at some point Unless you carry a breathalyser with you how do know how long to leave it before getting in the car (Sunday after a night out)
There has to be a limit above zero IMO unless everyone has a testing unit at home to ensure that the alcohol consumed on a night has completely left their system by the following morning. If you don't you could end up with prosecutions for trace amounts at say 7am which related to say 4 pints consumed before 11pm the previous night. I don't take the car if I'm going for a drink per se , however if I go to a match then I'll have a pint in the period up to 2.45pm. The science suggests that my body should metabolize the alcohol at 1 unit per hour so it should be out of my system by 5.15pm when I drive home ? Can be sure though. I think the current level is about right.
It states that the new guidelines are in place because beyond that there is a 1% increase in risk of cancer. Bear in mind that's a 1% increase on top of the baseline risk of cancer which I'd imagine is something like 1 in 3 or 4 people these days? I haven't checked. The chances may be even less than that. So that's 1% increase on let's say for arguments sake a baseline 25% risk. So drinking more than 14 units increase your base risk of cancer by 0.25%. A bacon sarnie a week probably has more impact. I'll take my chances thanks.
Not you on a school-night, hopefully Jam Drop! By the way, no disrespect saying "fellers" - it's just that the reduction is aimed at bringing the guidance for blokes down to the same level as the ladies. Hope you won't deny to your young charges the life-affirming qualities of a few bevvies!
To be honest, I didn't even notice! Nope definitely not me. 6 pints a week is way more than I could ever manage. The 'two nights without a drink' made me laugh too. If someone can't go two nights in a week without a drink that seems a bit worrisome to me.
A a drunkard tonight not far off quaffing the remainder of his weekly allowance in one night (again), I am minded to take up Racing UK's generous offer of £10per month for the rest of the main jumping season, kindly emailed to me this morning. So that's the booze and gambling sorted. Just leaves the sex and cigarettes....
Two nights without a drink is easy. I haven't had a drop since last Saturday. Keeping under 14 units on the Saturday when Barnsley play at home - impossible.
