Don't even joke about a blue and white stripped shirt thats just beyond the pale its blasphemy, heracy, treason and just totally out of the question.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the recent announcement said that they are our new sleeve sponsor. Presumably the deal began during the play-offs.
I'm with you But if it's any comfort mate. When we dropped the St. Peter's and joined the football league in 1897/8 as Barnsley. We've been Red ever since. . As described as home shirts. Prior to that described as recreational. Whatever that's supposed to mean. https://www.footballkitarchive.com/barnsley-kits/#1890s
Example of really poor communication from the club. It would appear that today is the photo shoot not the launch? Why not just make that clear? It’s not hard. You have the channels to communicate. Meanwhile some Reds fan in NYC has taken time off work to attend something that apparently hasn’t happened. I really can get by another day without knowing what the new kit looks like, but that’s not the point. The club needs to stop this needless misinformation/ vague information. It’s so easy to keep people informed these days.
To be fair the club have said nothing officially. Looks to me like JAQ was doing what she does in sometimes tweets without thinking. Read to me like she thought was being nice asking people to DM her if they wanted to attend a shoot and as usual it takes a life of its own from the fans.
I don't think she's exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. It appears she was asking people to DM her for the details but (understandably) has DM's switched off. And she's hyped an event asking for potential attendees that appears to have either not taken place or not been a public event.
I think they miss out on an opportunity with these kit launches. Do it in the exec lounge one evening, models, cat walk, evening meal, DJ, meet some of the players etc. Instead of getting a player to stand in Locke Park at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon.
That’s exactly my point though. The club must be aware that as a result of what was posted there is an expectancy. Would have taken someone 2 minutes to put a post on Social Media saying that the official photos from the kit launch will be available tomorrow/ in a few days/ next week etc. It’s not the end of the world - it’s just a bit shoddy, and entirely avoidable.
This is a really good idea. First Friday evening in July, Legends Suite. Sell tickets for kit launch and a meal. Couple of players from the men's team and a couple from the women's team to model the kit on stage and maybe do a bit of a meet and greet or interviews. As soon as the kit is shown get the images up on social media and website for everyone to see. Following day kit is on sale in the club shop.
I know we have a fair number of fans who would pay just to look at Oakwell but to pay for a kit launch - have we enough for that?
I'm not sure it's obvious that there's confusion though? I don't think it was JAQ's intention to mislead anyone. It was quite clear on her Instagram story yesterday that she was after New York based fans to attend the photoshoot today. I don't really understand why we should then expect a timeline of when the kit will be launched based off that. On this occasion at least, I don't think the club have done much wrong.
I think based on the hundreds of twitter posts expecting something today the club could have said something. It was ambiguous.
