Not to mention (off the top of my head) Michail Antonio, Joe Hart, Les Ferdinand, Ian Wright. Pretty sure they all went on to represent England, as did Vardy. I think Wright and Ferdinand are among the Premier League's top goalscorers. Playing at academy level guarantees nothing.
I honestly don't understand this at all. What is the point? If he is being described as a development signing by Duff then to me clearly they are down playing him already because they know he isn't that good. Why are we getting a developmental loan when we have young strikers here that would benefit from the minutes? I know he is a target man type which we don't have but if Duff wants/needs someone of that ilk then sign one that will impact the team now. It just seems like such a pointless waste of a loan slot. Maybe I am being harsh but sure does feel that way.
I think the telling part is that they are looking to strengthen the relationship with City, which may explain this move? He needs developing and part of smoothing the relationship and opening up the options of other higher profile loans this may be the route we have identified will assist in this. Either that or City have said, take him and we will consider other loans, complete guesswork obviously
Having a better relationship with City can only be a good thing long term, especially if they continue to dominate as they have been as you'd expect some possibly brilliant loans to come our way. But with that being said, this one just seems odd especially with our finances being as bad as they are at the moment. We are likely to need a few loans this summer to patch up the squad and wasting a loan on someone that our own manager is downplaying already seems weird to me.
Hehe.. Duff to Khaled.. Whatcha brought me this **** for ? Khaled.. thought I was doing something clever, he's from Man City you know.! Duff.. well you'd better stick him in the 23s cos I ain't playing him..
Well that's disappointing. It doesn't benefit us in the short term (unless he exceeds expectations), and we still need a couple of strikers. At 22, you'd think he'd be beyond the 'development' stage. I guess it could open the door to future transfers, particularly with the rumblings on about Premier League academy players going to football league clubs for their development.
I've never seen Mick come back to the club on the occasions that past players come back and are paraded on the pitch. For the old uns like me it'd be great to be able to acknowledge and applaud him.
personally think this makes a lot more sense than bringing him in as first team. actually it's quite a relief, for MD to come out and say what he has. another indication that he actually knows what he's talking about. minor explosions heard in Hemsworth like, but hey. I'm assuming they're still actively looking for a first team striker
Without listening to the presser and its something I will hopefully do when they put it on Ifollow later. Does the tweet mean, there's been a development in the transfer market and they are able to now bring in Tedic. Also Micheal Duff might be playing down Slobodan to just keep expectations in check until he gets games. I don't think he would have played much and I presume he was in Cyprus with the u23s and the non-covid vaccine takers. lets just wait for the audio/ video before making comments.
Typical Barnsley FC. Spending wages, time and effort to work with a loanee for our second eleven who will be taking the place of one of our own young lads.
Mido was miles better footballer than Norwood could even dream Jay. Remember speaking to Danny Rose about him and how was he training. Rose couldn't speak more highly of him. Couldn't believe I don't think that he was training with someone with that ability. I watched him quite a bit in the u21s at the time. The ball striking ability was something I haven't seen since. The noice the ball made when he simply put the ball in to whichever corner he wanted was a joy to listen to. Its like when you stand and watch Joe Root say warming up. It's just different to anything you've ever heard before.
It is a big relief we are still looking at other options. Just find it weird we are loaning players in to possibly play in our u23s. Don't we have limits on how many loans we can sign? I know you can only name 5 in a matchday squad but not sure if there is a limit on how many you can sign.
I imagine city are picking up most if not all of his wages, so probably a no brainer. I'm relieved to hear duff come out and say he's a dev/23s prospect, rather than a first team replacement.
Thought we'd strengthened our relationship with City when we shafted Watford by cancelling our friendly at short notice and played them instead.
