I think the free transfer market has gone. Stead, Higdon and Chopra (to name those mentioned int the media) decided to join other clubs.

At this stage, I think we might be looking at Premier League clubs and the loan market. They all have big squads, so I'm sure a few strikers might be available to go out on loan in the next few weeks when some of them realize they aren't going to feature on a regular basis. I know Billy Sharp is surplus to requirements at Southampton, but looks unrealistic at the moment. Maybe Matty Fryatt, Aaron Mclean, Nick Powell (think Utd see him as a midfielder though)

In the mean time, I would like to see Cofie given a chance. However, Flicker said that because he was without a club for a while, he is behind the other lads in terms of fitness. He certainly looks like he has got the physical attributes to get in behind defenses, and maybe give the opposition something to think about.

You're 100% right. They are either on a wind up or are total idiots.

nowhere near the 2 worse players in that period. Equally not good enough to take us forward.

Cofie not the answer? then why oh why did we sign him? Rose is a developing striker, why would we need another? we aren't man u and never will be so why waste a wage on sumdi to "develop". Im sorry to disagree, but little ole barnsley aren't in a position to just develop players that might come good, we need quality now to progress. If he's not up to it then ship him out and free up a wage. It's a nonsense signing in our predicament if he's not going to play regularly imho....

saw Cofie last year a few times on loan at **** u very raw some pace but looked not quite good enough for that league. A lot of work to be done before he's good enough for the step up. Ended up falling out of favour at both Keague 1 clubs he was loaned out to. We have signed him in the hope that in the long term we an mould him into being a good player not for now.

We are desperate for a quality replacement for Daggers whether we can afford/attract one is a different matter.

I know he might not be everybody's cup of tea because has bean out on loan and maybe milked the situation a bit, but I just think he would be a sweet addition to the starting line-up.

We can’t afford to bring in any stars on mega bucks and I don’t think he is going to costa us any points if we play him alongside O’Grady. Who knows, he could really grind the Charlton defense down and nestle a few in the top corner. He could be one for latte though.

we're in an incredibly difficult position. flicker has said he wants a 'plug & play' striker. yet i suspect that anyone at champ/PL will either be a) at another Club already, b) see Barnsley as a step down, c) be out of price range, d) not be considered a special human being, or e) all of the above

the start to our season will only have made our search even tougher. that leaves us with having to either drop a League level, or unearth some overseas gem.

that said, i'm not convinced that this one elusive striker is the answer to all our prayers. we haven't had a shot on target in our first two league games, which we should expect between COG, Daggers & Scotland. the strange formations and early injuries are worrying me more

we're now -5 and up next against the team that humiliated us last season. i really hope that acts as a motivator, and doesn't result in more bizarre tactics, to try and purely nullify them

I reckon Newcastle would loan out Sammy Ameobi to a Championship club this season - might be a realistic target and give us an alternative to Dagnall.

Scotland's shot at Blackpool was definitely on target. Not much of a consolation I know.
