It wouldn’t have got voted down though. There’s only 200 Labour MPs.

Just like the Labour Brexit position; there’s no ‘right’ answer.

There is no right answer, and the Labour party weren't capable of voting it down themselves, but there was a hell of a lot of rebellion from many Tory backbenchers, and they couldn't vote it down themselves either. Some stood on principle. But others, had they known Labour would vote it down, would have voted against it too. But as Labour publicly stated they wouldn't, what was there to gain for them voting against their own party. There was enough MPs in the commons who didn't agree to vote the bill down and it didn't happen because Labour abstained. And that is so wrong.

It just frustrates me - this sh1 tshow is completely of the Tory government’s making and supposed Labour supporters are finding a way to turn their anger on the party in opposition.

I find it odd and more than slightly baffling.

I do understand that, I really do. But on this single point I don't think the Labour party made the right choice. We're being locked in our houses, the North is shut down, the south is open, you can't not vote on that, even if that vote doesn't change things, you've got to show us some solidarity, or to show us what's happening is what they believe in, but to say nothing, on this of all things, it's not acceptable.

I have a suspicion it is because the leader of the opposition actually really despises the North. Probably thinks we’re a load of uneducated morons.

Not a Starmer fan, me. Far from it.

    hmmmm
Not sure if that’s right. I think he’s just playing a political strategy but has misjudged it. I think he thinks that challenging and potentially voting down may not be well received by the public. As I say, I think he’s misjudged that sentiment, and I really do object to him taking that action when it’s such a serious issue - it shows a lack of principles. Challenge could have at least brought discussion and change.

He's a coward. He has no balls and that's the real problem. The media hounded out the one man they had with ******** because he would have cost them money and so labour voted in a meek sheep to replace him

I suppose spending a few years studying in Leeds would probably give him that impression...
