With these owners it's a proper roller coaster ride and the more you think about it the more problems we have. No one really know why Conway and Lee plus others are here and what their motive is. They run things on a comparative shoestring and seem more intent on adding mediocre clubs to their B list portfolio. The only thing I can deduce from the high number of departures is either that wages are very low at Oakwell, or it's a rubbish place to work atmosphere wise. Perhaps it's both. On the ground issue - I love the West Stand, it's something different in a world of bland stadiums. I'd like to see partial modernisation, combined with restoration. This is after all it is an incredible 130 year old survivor and a rare bit of history. My gut feeling it that it can't be far off being listed. If the club were to move from Oakwell because of the present dispute that would be the end of me. The club and the ground are interlinked, to me at least.

There may be a feature/features in the West Stand which would merit protected status - if that's the case I think the whole structure would have to be 'saved.' There's an old country house somewhere in North Yorkshire (can't remember where) which is 'protected' because the pre-Victorian windows and frames (not the whole building) are designated as of Historic Interest.
