Farewell tekky, I know we've occasionally had our differences but I don't think we ever properly fell out. Everyone has a right to their own opinions and sometimes we get in a bubble or echo chamber where we only see one side of the argument. Unfortunately the media in the UK (with few exceptions) is hard right and uncompromising so for me it's refreshing that so many on here see the other side.

Am I missing something? Have you just announced that you're not responding or posting to political threads and made that synonymous with you leaving the board (with your imagined replies of 'good riddance', 'no loss' etc.) You are allowed to talk about Barnsley FC sometimes, in fact it is actively encouraged.

There's two ways to post a thread like this isn't there. You can go with 'I've decided I'm not going to respond to or post anymore political threads, I respect that everyone has different opinions and getting drawn into arguments isn't a nice way to spend my day. Spring is here, I have my music, lots of work in the garden, cooking/BBQing, Pizza making and Gin drinking! to keep me occupied. You Reds!' Or you can go down the 'I've decided I'm not going to respond to or post anymore political threads, you're all losers who do nothing but whinge and whine and be petty childish name callers. I'm well off because I worked hard (unlike you hint hint). Oops, better mention something about Barnsley as a postscript.'

It reminded me of when the Royale family met Antonys new girlfriends (local made good) Mum and Dad. Dad said “Oh yes, I remember when we used to live in a shi tole like this”

The challenge as I see it here is that you've announced what is essentially a flounce, littered with the exact behaviour and tone you're complaining about. Which then makes your point a moot one when it actually could be far more credible.

You've announced your 'retirement from politics threads' in an antagonist way deliberately aimed, in my mind anyway, at winding a few folk up. If you'd have come at it from the angle of 'You know what this government have made some monumental errors over the last 18 months. But then most governments have. But they're not to blame for everything and it would be a far more pleasant community on here if we could have those straight up, honest discussions, without it being one side vs. the other and more of a chat that acknowledges not everyone has the same view point, not everyone is right, and thinking differently to someone else doesn't make you a bad person and shouldn't lead to insults. I've played my own part in this at times but not anymore and it would be nice to get the same in return. Clean slate everyone?'.

Based on how little you post on football topics I'm assuming this is a full blown exit stage right. If you don't post on politics what else is there?

He'd talk a glass eye to sleep. Why write a couple of lines when you can do a dissertation?

I cannot understand why a man who lives in Italy and has no intentions of returning to Britain apart for a holiday would get involved in political threads, it's beyond all reason.
