For underachieving and then Joe Royle came in and got no win in like 10 or so games, so I guess Sheridan wasn't so bad afterall.
Agree. Rather see us have a bit of continuity at the club, unless there was a good/experienced candidate lined up.
Statements like that are why people think you are an overopinionated, clever lovely person. </p> Just for your information like.</p>
RE: Statements like that I don't. I've never met the guy but he certainly doesn't come across like that to me. Just for your information like.
RE: Lets Hope The John Sheridan Reports Are True No thanks. Sheridan would be a step backwards IMO. I'm not a Davey fan at all but I'd have him over Sheridan. If we're going to get rid which I hope we do it has to be a manager in the mould of Wilson, Robins, Curbishley.
Course not. 'We certainly don't have unlimited resources'. Now that's not a self evident fact that applies to every club is it? FFS, kiss his arse why don't you.
Completely agree If Sheridan is lined up as a replacement, I fear for us. He has no experience at this level and has just been sacked by a League One club. Davey may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm struggling to think of anyone who is that much better in our budget. If we did get rid of him, chances are a new manager would want to mould together a new squad - and that comes at a price. Is it worth completely building from scratch? I say give SD to Christmas - then see what's what.
Had a change of heart then? "just goes to show what a set of d!cks run this piss heap of a suporters site. A website is only as good as its content and this site is awful. End of the season and thats me signing off for good"</p> http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=140981&mid=941599#M941599 </p>
There you are Chef Tyke Blackadder tells us all what we all think. You put forward an opinion to the contrary and you get abuse. Great this board sometimes innit. Feels good to have staved off relegation though dunt it?
It does indeed mate! Fantastic day! I've just been reading back through the posts as I have been at the pub all day, quite amused by you seemingly sh-tting it when Charlton were 4-1 up. Mind you this is BFC we are talking about.. Really cannot decide where to go from here and it is going to be a tough decision for Patrick Cryne to make. We have had a very poor season, compounded by conceding late goals. I am of the mind that conceding late is often the sign of a team which isn't mentally tough, and that can be traced back to the manager. On the other side of the coin, Davey has had wretched luck this season and I seem to remember us being only a few points behind Sheffield United when they came to Oakwell which in hindsight appears to have been a watershed for the respective teams' seasons. Hume would, most likely have notched 12-15 goals which would have seen us safe. I sometimes wonder if our expectations are too high, given that our attendences and consequently turnover must be towards the lowest in the league. If we are to progress then serious investment needs to be made in the team and let's hope that our financial position is as strong as we have been led to believe as the increased TV revenue could be used to sign 2 top class championship players rather than servicing debts, as it will for other clubs like Crystal Palace and Watford. I wouldn't mind seeing Kevin Phillips in a reds shirt next season. Anyway, onwards and upwards whoever is in charge. I'm bored of pre season already...
I think it's probably time for Mr Davey to go as I think he's taken us as far as he can, but if Mr Cryne decides to keep him then I won't be shouting from the roof tops for us Davey to be sacked. Maybe he'll do better next season... It's the hope that kills you.
I'm with you on that... ... I'm in favour of people having differing opinions. To be abused for having them because you don't agre with the mob is just wrong.
Paul Jewell will have done given he was Derby mnager and both Cotterill and Gale will have a good sound knowledge of the Championship. What they said about Barnsley doing well on their budget was spot on. a £1.2m striker for the club was really pushing the boat out especially when you look at the spendings and transfers of so called ' big clubs' - norwich, all free signings or loans this season. Charlton, very similar policy, free transfers or loans, Southampton, same again. Those three clubs i would hazard a guess at the majority of posters would have had them around the mid upper table mark pushing for the play offs. Every season that Barnsley survive in the Championship has to be taken with pride and a mark of sucess as it will be come more and more difficult every year. Next season, Newcastle, Boro, Leicester, Peterboro, maybe leeds, with the exception of posh, all historically 'bigger' clubs than Barnsley. All of those clubs will have a bigger spedning power than Barnsley. Next season, regardless of manager will be a struggle.
