Yet they've been released on freebies. I always reckon about 27 is a players peak but I suppose some can be late developers. However, Id suggest that Clarke- Harris is well past his best. I remember David Hirst going from Premier League to Sheffield Sunday League in just a few years.I also remember us signing England internationals Geoff Thomas and Kevin Richardson when they were past their sell by date. Both were largely anonymous.

we have taken a backwards step every season in the past 3-4 years. What do you think has changed?

As a club we regularly sell ourselves short. Its gotten that bad that even the fans have started doing it.

2 of the 3 promoted teams, Derby & Pompey, have always been bogey clubs to visit, so we’re probably a bit better off with the ones that have replaced them. Decent recent record at Brum and a couple of local derbies.

I think we’re slightly worse off with the teams we have lost at the bottom though. 2 of the 3 are bigger clubs than Fleetwood and Cheltenham, and we have never won at Wrexham.
