No its not the same at all - nearly all the people that run it are different. Ray Brammar does the interviews with players etc these days.

    I was not suggesting "pre-vetting"

but do know that this has happened in the past, perhaps in the previous guises of the Supporters Trust. To be fair I've not been a member now for a few years so you might well have changed this attitude and if so, well done.

That is quite reassuring to be honest city tyke. I still wont be joining but that is down to the fact that I'd only be able to attend about one meeting a year but the fact that somebody doesnt have total control any more (i wont mention any names) is reassuring as he has been one of the main reasons for me being against the trust in the past. I'm sure that goes for a lot of people too which is why I was always bemused as to why the trust and old club put so much faith in him

Well I'd say it certainly isn't the case that one person has total control and even in the 18 months or so I've been involved the trust has evolved into a more business like / organised stucture with board members having defined roles and responsibilties etc etc. There's always room for improvement though. What is clear from this thread is that people really don't see any difference between the Trust and previous fans groups so I guess we need to do something about that!

Well if you can come along to the next one it is open for trust members to bring along guests.

I can't but thanks for the invite (genuinely). A good starting place for the trust to identify itself as seperate from the old organisations is to ask the official site to remove all references to the old names as it's customer charter I believe still refers to the supporters society (or club) which must confuse a few people.

Also may I ask what exactly the supporters trust office in the back of the ponty end is used for? ie what is in there?

    RE: Off topic

If you are referring to the coaches that the Supporters Trust run

Any profits made are used to offset losses for the cases where coaches run at a loss. In addition any profits are used towards the running costs for the Junior section and other costs that the trust may encounter. All details are presented in the trust accounts which are audited and presented to members at the AGM's

    Hope that helps

Its just an office with a couple of desks really. We've done some decluttering recently so there less in there now that there was. On a match day it's used for some of the following reasons:

[*]People come in andtell us about problems or suggestions they would like us to take up with the club[*]Charity Collections - Currently it's the collection point for Doddy and Ali Tyke's Iain Hume collection on a match day[*]Distribution point for Trust initiatives like the Iain Hume Flags, Postcards etc[*]Fans come in just for a chat and to find out team news which is usually posted on the window.[*]To sign up/pick up the free 50-50 kids tickets scheme. The Trust have been inststrumental in this scheme and getting roughly half the championship clubs to sign up for it. The aim of this initiative is that we are given 25 pairs (1 adult + 1 Junior) of free tickets for certain away games. In return Barnsley FC reciprocate the offer to these clubs when they come to Oakwell. Any Oakwell Junior Member can apply for a free ticket for themselves and the adult that takes them. Obviously the idea is to encourage youngsters to follow Barnsley away from home. [*]Book travel to agame when we are running a coach - this is usuallyonly when theJuniors 50-50scheme is running.[*]As a general information point[*]Sign up to be a junior mascot as part of the Oakwell Jumiors Scheme[*]Membership Renewals[*]Central point to coordinate other trust activitiesasquite often we have a number of other things going on on a match day. For example,a large proportion of games the Oakwell Juiors team, led by Steve Croft, open up the academy for the youngsters and organise 5-a-side games, penalty shoot outs. Simon Davey always sends over a couple of first team players for the kids to speak to and quiz. Often opposition teams bring their junior members to these meeting and they join in. Its becoming more and more popular and a good way to get kids more interested in the club etc.[/list]

There's probably plenty of other thigns I can't think of at the moment, Iguess some changes will be made to the office as there areplans to turn this and the area immediately behind itinto a youth club during the week and a supporters bar on match days. Indications from the club are that the trust will be involved in this initiative.
