I'm happy we've got Wilson as our manager, as I believe he will turn the club round for the better. I'm not happy with the position we're in, the style of play, the commitment of some players. But in my opinion Danny Wilson is the best man for the job. I accept others disagree, but it's my opinion. Some don't want him to be manager because he left Barnsley to manager Sheffield Wednesday. Some don't want him as manager because they don't believe he's a good manager. Whether he's allowed the time to do the job, I simply don't know. If someone doesn't make an immediate impact these days in football (be they a manager, player or CEO), the consensus of the 'right here, right now' brigade seems to be get shut and try someone else.
Thats a fair judgement. What angers me more than anything else, is that DW does not appear to be able to motivate the team into a group that is fighting for each other, fighting for BFC, fighting for the town. And some of these players are who he signed. He probably is the right man for the longer term, but in the shorter term, he's not been particularly good, as he?
Seems to me that in this day and age there are quite a lot of footballers going through the motions and picking up money for very little. Seems their passion for football has been overtook by their passion for money. Managers nowadays need not to just look at the footballing talent when bringing players to the club but also their attitude towards to life in general. More and more players are letting down managers and not just loan players, which you tend to expect nowadays, either.
Probably not. Then again, I'm not going to judge him purely on the short term, having no choice but to select players he wouldn't normally have at the club. However, he's had one transfer window to try to bring in players and move others out. It's not something any manager (especially one at a club who have spent months in the relegation places) can achieve overnight. Some of those given an opportunity by him have failed to take their chance. Others, who were here before, have not covered themselves in glory, either. Wilson is not above criticism. But one would hope the criticism he receives would be constructive, measured & reasoned, rather than the sneering, condescending, sniping that appears to be popular nowadays.
I think that's how a lot are seeing it Pasta. Danny was in effect set on a trial period till the end of the season. Nobody wants to see him fail but the result of this period will determine how we move forward. I don't know how people seem to feel that giving him more time will solve the problems. If fact there is more evidence to say Hill or Flitcroft given more time would have solved the problems. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
If you give him the time, he will be presented with the opportunity to bring in players he believes can firstly lay a foundation to the present endemic rot prevalent at the club. Then, he can arrange both the playing & coaching sides of the club to move us forward. This will take time and won't be achieved overnight. However, if folk don't rate him as manager, want him as manager, or have any patience for such a job to be done, then it stops any debate. Let's not renew his contract at the end of the season and bring in someone else. I doubt that there'll be that big a queue of quality managers banging on Patrick Cryne's door for the job (there hasn't been for years, which is why we go through managers so quickly). I'm just expressing my views & opinions as to the reasons for keeping Wilson on as manager. There's been posts aplenty for him to be removed, so I'm trying to offer a balance.
See again Kev you say Patric Cryne's door this could change. My general opinion of all this is that all the managers since Robins are only guilty of trying to achieve what Robins said couldn't be done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
You're right, my old mate, it could. But if it does, it certainly won't happen overnight. If new owners come in, I would expect them to appoint their own man and I would argue that's only fair. I'm simply debating on the issues with regards to the status quo remaining. There are different financial rules with regards to Divisions 1 & 2. Only a certain percentage of a club's turnover can be spent on players' wages (something like 60 or 70%). So there may be limits on what Patrick Cryne can do from a financial point of view.
Therefore it will be more important than ever that we improve and maximise all revenue streams. Or we could just put prices up.
That's right Redstar, the thing I noticed when we went to Bournmouth's ground there was very little space on the stadium that wasn't used for advertising in some way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
You can't blame Wilson for mclaughlin getting injured. Proschwitz may be average but we could have done with a few more average players rather than the below average ones we have been lumbered with.
Agreed, and I'm not. My point is, only 1 of the 7 have really looked anything like, and he's hardly played for us. The rest have ranged from w.ank to average
Some of the responses in this thread show the retardedness of those making the points. 'Here you go Danny - we're in the **** - have 5 minutes to solve it' - Manlito - 2 things you know about football. Nowt and **** all. Getting your Brian Glover track suit on and shouting at bairns does not make you a professional coach. Get back in yer box Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
