ICU's post puts this sort of problem in it's true perspective

And all this is after we've won promotion !! I can't get too worked up about the signing of new players ( or not signing ) when I think of what Ian and his family are going through .
It's not even good enough to bring in players that Andy Ritchie wants , they've got to be players that we rate !
Some people need a reality check .

Its ok to say AR will sign players...............but where are they???

We have let six first team players go
Thats six first team wages up for grabs
Plus Flinders money plus play off money plus a bit of investment from the directors
And what have we got..........Two replacements when we are going into a higher league
Sturrock said he misjudged the quality in the Championship
Is anybody telling me that we struggled last year but now we have got promoted with less players on the books we will be OK
That does not add up !!!!

But what about the young uns coming through
Well - we have so much faith in the Nathens we have brought Coulson in - that says a lot

We need more than Horsfield, what happens if Horsfield gets injured, he is 32 year old.......we need a squad NOT A PLAYER

This close season has been a disaster

Good call, football isn't the be all and end all.
If the squads' good enough next year, thats a bonus - one less thing to moan about.
If not, it's not the end of the world.
Certain people need to be thankful that the lack of signings is the most important thing they've got to worry about.

Do you really consider Vaughan and Conlon as first team?

If so then your judgement on footballers is not so hot!

Awwww shut the f*#k up.
Summer of 96 we signed a journeyman striker, 2 players from lower divisions, and 2 foreigners no-one had heard of.
Let's wait and see first shall we?

Well - tykeman.....I'm sure I watched them play in the FIRST team

They may not have been everybodys cup of tea
But they were part of our first team this time last season
And they have gone
And there wages are there to be spent on other players
And we are still waiting to see who the others are going to be
And we have 9 days to turn it round

You can only determine whether

the close season is a disaster when the season starts and we see the results.

Sounds to me like you want us to sign any old rubbish rather than wait a month a sign a couple of quality players.

You need some PATIENCE.

Moan, Moan, Moan.... Why post the same **** every day???

Vaughn - Gone
Conlon - Gone
Carbon - Gone

McPhail - Replaced with MacIndoe
Burns - Replaced by Togwell
Coulson - Youngster, but looking good enough for the squad (replaced Conlon then).

Plus Atkinson, Williams, Young Keeper, 2 x Nathans..... Fair enough not got a 'aged' squad, but even if we bring in experienced heads it is still going to be a hard season.

Three players that were nothing to the squad really, apart from taking xxx each week. The three players that were playing in the team, have been replaced by better players for me.

Three signings in, plus a possible further two. FACT - No matter what we are going to have a small squad, we cant afford to have a large squad when only a max 14 can play each week

RE: ICU's post puts this sort of problem in it's true perspective

Yes it does Kev, in the greater scheme of things football pales into insignificance.

I only know ICU by sight as identified by by the letters on the back of his shirt, but it is as if it is happening to someone I know well. I can only offer my best wishes to him and his family and hope the time remaining is as long and fulfilling as possible.

The footie posts are entertaining and whilst I agree with some and disagree with a lot of the clap trap posted. Everyone has a right to their opinion but it is after all only a game.

Vaughan wasnt included

He was a player for BFC, we paid him wages. How can you just not count him?

And sorry but burns left near the end of the season, he was a key player in our promotion so you cannot just pretend he hasnt left either.

6 out, 3 in. And one of those three is an 18 year old with only conference experience who isnt really ready for a season i nthe championship.

I went

We fell to bits in the second half and because we have less players than the very thin squad we had last season we were found to have less depth than a puddle.

Yes they were

They both played in the first team, were on first team wages and unless i'm mistaken they both had squad numbers in the traditional 1-11 which isnt something that you give to the reserves.

RE: Yes they were

Traditional being the operative word.

Very few teams start 1-11 now.

So you dont think Togwell and McIndoe looked any good?

You obviously counted Vaughan despite him not playing since about Oct.
