    One suggests a job has been offered and turned down. One makes it clear that tentative talks were held and McCarthy wasn't interested in going any further in the selection process.

    You do know his 1st language isn't english. He was born in sweden and speaks several languages. His choice of words may have belied the meaning. If so the reporter should clarify. Not go straight to print. Given the fact the interview process hadn't started and others were approached. I know where my thoughts lie. And it's definitely "not offered him the job"

    As harsh as it may be I'd say that communication is a vital part of his job. If he isn't up to that part of the job then maybe shouldn't be in the job?

    The problem is how competent are the people above him, those that are required to make such decisions on the CEO's future? It just seems like a very naive, inexperienced set up all the way through, from the board to the CEO.
