Before everyone sh^ts the bed it says 500 grand rated not that we are prepared to pay that, probably a load of old b@ll@cks anyway..........sithi.
You can never tell.. remember when Duff arrived and the Alfie May rumours started. All the.. don't want him, 29, free transfer from Donny, only had one good season.. remarks on here. Don't matter what age if they get you goals.. Devante Cole another nomad until he came back here at 27.. Like I said.. who knows
The striker i wanted this summer was Matty Godden who would have guaranteed us goals in this league but fair play to Charlton they snapped him up up to replace Alfie May so I’m expecting them to be up there this season.
Dallas scored a lot of goals for Solihull Moors. I'd say they're a lot better than Irish second tier level.
Back in 2008 the under 21s went to Ireland for a preseason tour, well I say it was a tour, it was a 3 day camp. We played a side who were LOI top tier and the u21s smashed them. I’m sure Jamal Adam got 4. The standard over there as you say is very poor.
Wouldn’t surprise me making this signing, but not at £500k. That’s the level we’re at now, we ain’t going to sign anyone proven at this level. Just more gambles.
Hourihane signed because of the coaching role, Roberts is from Barnsley, he clearly wanted to come back, plus he cost nothing. I don’t think those two signings gives any indication to what any future signings are going to be like. We are clearly missing out on targets, & going to end up with the likes of Coughlan & Jackson, gambles. You can’t tell me looking at their records that they are first choice signings?
We haven't signed either of the guys you're quoting. We have to try one or two gambles, that IS how we operate. I bet Hourihane and Roberts are on a lot more than peanuts whatever their motivation for signing so that does demonstrate a commitment by the club. Any chance we could hold off the doom and gloom until we've actually done our business?
I think with how long it's taking to get deals done we are definitely half way down the page of our targets now.. but it is what it is.. budget and all that
No we haven’t & I hope it’s paper talk only, I think we can do better. Roberts & Hourihane are good signings don’t get me wrong, & as you say they’ll be on good money by our standards. I just don’t want to go down the scattergun approach again. A quality Keeper; LwB & Striker should be priority in terms of permanent signings, then I think we could utilise the loan market, & we have some promising youngsters on standby so then we should be good to go.
Well the club seem to have departed from the previous recruitment restraints to a degree so maybe you'll be a bit happier come August. Let's wait and see when the full picture has been painted.
"Cameron Borthwick-Jackson - Wikipedia" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameron_Borthwick-Jackson Saw on twitter that this lad is on trial here.
Hourihane and Roberts were both "punts", to a greater or lesser degree. Hourihane had only really played in League 2, and Roberts was from Halifax. Didn't turn out too badly, did they?
The Roberts one certainly was in that category but to be fair. Hourihane was the captain and a key player for Plymouth in the league below. Certainly wasn't a nailed on guaranteed L1 proven player but he was far from a punt
Looking at his stats he must have looked decent as a kid.. looks like his aspirations were bigger than his talents tho. Man U Wolves Leeds but drops off a cliff after that Tranmere Oldham Scunny then Wraclaw ll to Ross county. But just here say on twits.. hopefully
