Why would I want to offend a major trading partner? This isn't Dad's army this is politics which could cause massive issues to everyone's lives.
Or is this just new football chant in the making whilst you down a pint of flat Carling?

Fair does DCM (great name btw) that would be the dream and who wouldn't subscribe to it? I wanted to but found the reality was lacking. Mate, I voted with a heavy heart in many ways but who knows, in years to come it may even be seen as a good thing in Europe. A question that troubled me is what happens when the Eastern bloc are asked for net contributions
Mate, please....I debated whether to post on this thread at all. We all have views. We aren't all right all of the time. Someone else holds a view, that is their right, fight them with research and reason and respect. You are dissing a fellow Barnsley fan here. His argument may shame Einstein or disgrace trump (well ok that's a tough one ) but please be civil

Hiding behind the settee every time Boris and farage come on the TV or trying to explain myself at dinner parties when the usual response is, "you voted leave? But you're the least racist person I know"

No beef with you chief you made some very valid points, I've said many times I voted remain through gritted teeth. The reason i voted remain was because of the people running the leave campaign. It was clear to me a Tory brexit would be full of piss, patriotism and false information. Those running it were vultures who were in it to make a killing. Always happy to debate with folk who provide reasoned detailed arguments.
I'm more worried now that those clearing up on covid contracts will be the same implementing brexit. God help us, it really could have been so different. To add we really aren't prepared for this, not scaremongering it's a reight state.

The EU announced in 2019 that it intended to scrap Member State vetoes on taxation issues.

That's what its descended to unfortunately, reasoned voices get drowned out by extremists. All it took after the vote was to create a coalition (whether it worked) and then folk would see a united front and get behind it. Instead like the Covid response its turned into patriotism contest and voids in detail filled with WW2 quotes and analogies.

DCM. That is exactly what we needed. I think the Brexit and covid issue has shown our political class up for what they are. I work for the government and see it everyday day. Every situation, gut response: how can I cover my a£se, next response, how can I spin this to my advantage?

Yes they did but at the same time they passed the new law on tax transparency. The new laws would have forced the UK to expose those in British territories who were hiding funds. I'm no saying the EU is perfect in any way but this country at a time when businesses are going under is a major player in money laundering and tax evasion internationally.

Well at least you're still getting invited along to social gatherings (subject to covid restrictions). Lucky you.

Plus, if you're dinner table scoffing around these parts, you're more likely to be with those who voted to scarper, at least according to voting statistics.

Perhaps you dine with the Socialist Workers Branch of the BBS only. And they find you more pleasant in the flesh.

That's live at the top of government mate, most worrying in recent years is the addition of the army of self / government appointed gurus. Everyone bangs on about Cummings there's at least 5 of these types in every department. The cabinet office now under Gove is a rogue unit that just obstructs and pumps out spin.

Part of that though is because France take 80% of the Channel Cod....the French problem, according to a French fisherman on tv the other day is that the French like particular types of flatfish ( sorry can't remember which) which are virtually extinct in French waters but are well stocked in UK waters.

Another issue that could have been resolved with adults around a table. Fishermen of all nations over fish, and it's doing untold damage. Why we can't create areas that promote re-population (i believe the Icelandic fishermen do this) is beyond me. The amount of food waste in both France and UK is horrific.
The amounts of fish we have stored is more than enough, I was told this by Grimsby fan who manages a fish processing factory. He said we'd struggling to run out for 6 months at least.

As I understand it it is up to each individual Member State to interpret the rules is it thinks fit.
According to FullFact...in no way does it force the UK to open offshore accounts for inspection....it appears to be an internet myth spread by Terry Christian.
