I agree with Stephen. I base this on the tactics he's employed so far. They're not fit for purpose. It's suicide lining up like he has us line up. We've got some decent players. It's actually difficult to make us look as bad as we did on Tuesday.
Think that's harsh, we don't really play full backs, not sure you could even say wing backs. We tend to have the back three cover almost the full width of the pitch, with the wide players pretty much playing wide midfield. The coach has probably seen Frieser play that position in this system at their previous club and figured he was the best option in the absence of Brittain and Williams. Styles has done pretty well on the left, and he's going to struggle to get a game in the middle over James and Mowatt
I agree that his positioning needs improving if he is to play there more in the future but Ismael has come in to the club with Callum having previously played at left wing back so it’s not as if he’s stuck him there randomly. In an ideal world where we are injury free, our wing backs will be Brittain and Jordan Williams I would’ve thought.
If we're playing this system they're the obvious choices. Brittain looks a hell of a player so far and Williams is solid. But I'm hoping he abandons the system. I think it puts us at a huge disadvantage.
Agree we looked poor on Tuesday. But you know, we had 4 main players out injured , it was the 6th game in 17 days and we hadn't got beat in the previous 5. You've written him off after 1 defeat? Crazy. We aint going to win every game. Also like I said VI hasn't hardly had any training sessions due to the fixture schedule. Surely needs abit of time to make his mark, he hasn't been able to catch his breath yet
There's a big difference between writing someone off and giving your honest opinion on what you've seen so far. Doing so isn't a crime, as much as it's made out to be on here, and I'm not crazy for giving it. There's nothing wrong with telling you what I think, it promotes discussion.
Agreed Jay, but it seems you have written him off, calling his tactics not fit for purpose. If you can't see that he's only been here for 2 weeks and hasn't been able to get many training sessions in, then we're poles apart here Jay.
He's a tinkerman and hasn't got a clue. You can't experiment in the Championship. You start with Oduor no ifs or buts like for like.
Exactly, and how long the pudding has been cooking. You've written VI and Frieser off after one game. Learn from mistakes and improve, the continuous cycle of life. Don't mark things as **** when they don't work first time
I actually think his tactic of moving the ball forward quicker will make us more of a threat going forward, what he's got wrong is the long ball method. It needs to be a 'rapid swarm' forward to provide the support for the one-twos needed to go through the opposition as we don't seem to like going wide.
Tuesday. we played with 3 out and out defenders being pulled all over the place. I prefer wing backs to have more defensive attributes than attacking. We were split wide open down the wings. Formation :- 3-2-3-2 was more 3-5-2 other night
That's a fair shout, l was concentrating more on the formation and that we simply don't have enough players back when our opponents are in possession. However, I do think our most skilful players are in midfield and these 'get the ball forward quickly' tactics are entirely bypassing those skilful players.
