    No

He knew that before taking steroids that he wouldn't be able to compete at the Olympics if he was caught.

He was caught. Therefore he shouldn't be allowed to compete at The Olympics.

He may be the best sprinter in the country, but in world terms he'd struggle to make an Olympic Semi Final.

I've no sympthy he's a drug cheat and doesn't derseve to compete in an Olympic games again.

    Rules

    That's what.

He's cheated. He knew the rules before he took steriods.

He has to pay the consequence

Yes but the rules clearly state...

That being caught using banned drugs results in a lifetime Olympic ban - hence that is part of the 'serving time'.

    And rightly so.

    Because

Taking banned substances such as he did results in a lifetime Olympic ban, which he knew when he planned his cheating.

Hence what's the point of qualifying for a competition you should be banned from?

In fact surely the qualifying is technically part of the Olympics so he should have been banned from that anyway.

Yes but that's not the point

The rules were already set - he broke them - and received the already decided punishment.

Whether different sports have harsher/more lenient sentences than each other is not really the debate here is it?

It's up to each sport's governing body to decide punishments, and Chambers knew exactly what he was doing and what the consequences were if he got caught.

    A poor analogy

There is no rule stating that if you get caught drink driving you can't drive again after your ban.

There is a rule that if a British Athlete get caught drug taking they won't be able to complete at The Olympics

    Try again.....

RE: Davids & Stam got done for drugs

He's missed the point I'm afraid.

    How is it hypocritical?

If I had taken performance enhancing drugs myself and criticised him - that's hypocrisy. You don't even know the meaning of the word.

He broke the rules - end of story.

As for 'does it affect you?' - do you never talk about anything that doesn't directly affect you?

I chat to people about Premiership football matches I've watched, yet the result doesn't affect me, does that make it irrelevant?
