No excuse in my opinion. We knew we needed championship ready players whether Patrick Cryne, Chien Lee or the trolley collector at Asda owned the club. It's not been the case that if Patrick was still owner then we could look around the conference for cheap players to sign for the future as we ALL knew we needed players ready to go to keep us up. It's also not the case that without the takeover we couldn't afford better players as we were or should have been still sat on millions from the stripping of last season's squad.
That's extremely true but surely even those who matter must have realised at least two months ago that they were wrong and needed to strengthen as soon as possible
Big week ahead. We have a home game at the end of it and we should be aiming to win all home games. We then have a season defining set of fixtures in February mainly against teams around us - surely the Board must realise this? We need to be equipped and ready. As yet I can see precious little evidence of squad re-balancing, indeed the only tangible changes would suggest we're re-im-balancing! From a surfeit of luxury show-pony midfielders we now have a plethora of full-backs, six of the critters at the last count!!! And yet we remain critically short up front and in 'all-round' central midfielders, as well as only having one fit winger. We all know that, given the choice, Hecky would play mainly 4-4-2, and it simply beggars belief that a whole year on from having his team decimated and after approaching 20 signings he still hasn't been given anything like the personnel capable of playing that system. The fact that we're still in with a fighting chance at this stage is testament to what Hecky is, even having had at least one hand tied behind his back. I live in hope, if sadly not the expectation, that he'll get what he needs in the coming week.
Why not get angry - cos I am. It's not that Villa won - it's because there wasn't much chance of us winning when you look at the thread bare squad. Hecky must be just downtrodden - and hanging in there just hoping for better days.
You’ve got to be joking? Have you seen the goals? Have you listened to PH’s interview or read the comments? I genuinely can’t believe that you’ve seen the game/highlights, viewed the goals that we’ve conceded and that that’s your opinion on it.
I understand exactly what you say , although there are two rounds of the cup in january but we all know that agents are the key & I am sure every club would like to get their deals over the line A.S.A,P but the nature of the beast dictates that this rarely happens , up to last friday, there were eleven clubs in the championship had not completed any transfers but you know by the end of the window they will all have done some business , with ten days to go, we have two in the bag & probably more to come
They were too good but that’s not really the reason. First goal was a catalogue of defensive errors probably caused by the back 5 not really knowing how to play as a 5. Second was just a keeping howler from a corner. Third goal fair enough Mind you our goal was poor defending a corner as well. I think we would probably have lost the game with Gardner and Williams playing but the 5 at the back experiment (for understandable reasons) against an in form Villa was the reason we looked so poor first half. We looked much better second half when we reverted to a back 4
