Dunt sound right, supposing it was £3m (for arguments sake) - that could mean £100,000 up front, and £2.9m if he becomes President of the United States
He could be happy just because one of our former academy lads playing for his country looks good. Or because the more he plays for his country the better our sell on clause will be worth to us. But if folks want to read into it that Mansford was hinting at an international appearance clause that's their choice Just if Stones plays over the off season for England and we spend naff all on transfers in the summer I can see why those who think Mansford was hinting at an international clause would be annoyed at us spending nothing. Again it's the choice of the individual what they believe.
The more you think about it, it seems that there definitely must be a sell-on clause. Why else would Everton want to keep it 'confidential'? That would be the clause most closely related to their interests. Just hope the Mansford comments don't mean, as some have interpreted, that his progress for England in a World Cup finals would contribute to him commanding a higher fee for Everton, rather than a singular payment for ourselves. If there isn't an international appearance clause then it beggars belief. There was clearly a good chance he was going to develop into an international, and I'm sure even Everton would admit that £3million is far beneath the going rate for an England international defender in today's market.
