    RE: Peter Cech? nt nt

Peter Cech doesn't have to go for headers does he and has that helmet he uses for safety. As a striker using your head is a must

I understand what zetland is saying and to be honest i have thought the same, and i'm sure that others have. But it's all upto Hume and i really do hope that he proves us all wrong and comes back stronger

Apparently has a metal plate in his cheek and when they operated, they had to split his skull from front to back , He's playing again, when he's not suspended for fighting that is.

Footballers recover from broken legs, broken metatarsal's etc.. Although a skull fracture is more serious, we don't know as to what extent Iain's fracture is.

Peter Chech's injury was a depressed skull fracture, caused by a knee to the head. This was made even more serious by the fact that his skull is thinner than the average persons (He's one of a set of triplets). He returned to playing after 3 months.

Fingers crossed, Iain's fracture isn't that serious and will repair itself fully over time.

Gi ower........ Peter Cech made full with same injury! why Can't Hume?

He's fit young lad and he's only 25. Its a rare and very serious injury, but I assume he will be able to start fitness training as soon as he has the all clear. Contact, heading and practice game situations will be out but at least he will be able to maintain his fitness. He could also work on his finishing LOL! So in that respect he has as much chance if not more so than if he had serious knee or ankle injury!

The big question is how it will effect him mentally. But he appears to me to be a very ambitious lad and I can't see him throwing the towel in.

I hope and believe he can make it back 100% fit!

    RE: Peter Cech? nt nt

    Thanks.
    It's not up to Hume.
As with all players who have suffered a serious injury he will have to medically assessed before being allowed back.
The question is will the medics give him the go-ahead.

    Thanks.
I'm not a medic but I think you're right about a healed fracture being stronger.
The question is how vulnerable is the tissue under the skull. What would the effect now be when heading a heavy ball - this is th issue for Hume and the medics.

Im sure as an outfield player he would not be allowed to wear a helmet like Cech. There is some opposition to him wearing it.

not true-I heard the agent for the headgear..............

when Cech started wearing it-it is perfectly acceptable for an outfield player to wear one-in fact he wanted it made compulsory to protect all players-or boost his sales I wasn't quite sure which!!
