I’m betting someone in this thread can answer this. Why does a morning ‘swim’ lead to slower times? Saw it mentioned yesterday a few times that the heats were moved to the morning, but nobody explained why that impacts on swimmers’ lap times?
Have a look at this and the paper linked in the article. Its amazing the difference https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.c...ngly-affects-performance-of-olympic-swimmers/
what surprises me on this is it seems to affect all the same way - if its due to body rhythms its strange that some swimmers arent best in the morning and others in the evening, unless its that because finals are always held in the evening the swimmers who are best in the morning never get t the top?
Don’t know if it’s the same for everyone but this fat lad from Barnsley also swims, cycles & runs slower earlier in the day than he does late afternoon / evening
Chuffed for Tom Daley. He's been in a number of Olympics and finally got the gold and has been under tremendous pressure from a very young age as someone signaled out as a prospect. Glad he's finally reached the pinnacle.
"ROC" - Russian Olympic Committee - ok its a bit like FFP this. Banning the Russians, then letting them compete anyway - whats the point?
They did really well to win the team title. It won't read well though if it's reported that a member of the Russian Olympic Committee has failed a doping test!
How about those 2 13 year old girls who finished top 2 in the Women's Skateboarding? How crazy is it to win Olympic Gold at that age
Another great Triathlon Race , first gold for Bermuda and a great silver for GB Georgia Taylor Brown who rode the last 2k on the bike with a flat back tyre , unbelievable
Really enjoyed the Women's triathlon, silver medal for Georgia Taylor Brown after suffering a puncture. And great for Duffy to get Bermuda's first ever gold!
Yes must admit when she got the puncture I thought that was her medal chances gone. I don’t think it cost her a place in the end as I don’t think she could have stayed with Duffy who was a deserved winner.
Georgia was brilliant wasn’t she? Who knows without that puncture! But perhaps Duffy wasn’t to be denied either way, she looked so strong all the way.
That Duffy was a machine. The last time I kept a face that straight for two hours, I was watching a Mrs Browns Boys omnibus.
Ive popped in and out and enjoyed everything i've watched so far. I have to say though this last two days my emotions have been a roller coaster across spells of 10 minutes at a time as ive watched the Women's Taekwondo. I don't now the rules well (or didn't beforehand) but that didn't stop the enjoyment. Perhaps that's the same for a lot of Olympic sports.
