Bit random but when my dad started taking me regularly to Oakwell this was in the charts and always seemed to be played pre-match. On the rare occasions I hear it now it takes me back to being stood on the corner between the Ponty End and the Brewery Stand, with the smell of cig smoke and bovril in the air
Everything by “Half man Half biscuit”, because they are massive football fans (Tranmere Rovers). Rumour has it that they even cancelled a gig to watch Tranmere reserves in the old Central League.
Reminds me of being a drunken student in Chester loudly lyrically abusing this track to everybody and nobody, singing "Aylott is our centre forward".
Sandstorm seems to be getting a play these days at Oakwell, which is the sort of high energy track that works quite well. Although the title of the track sounds negative I think this is a great bouncy positive track that I'd drop.
My sweet Lord - George Harrison. When I was a kid I thought it was the only record BFC owned. They played it every half time for years in the early 70s.
Can remember fans just singing along to this at football matches mainly away fans and as it was playing on tannoy . Specifically remember Reds fans singing along at Swindon the day Big Norman Hunter got sent off .
They gig they cancelled was an appearance on the Tube (Live Channel Four Friday Evening show for you young uns) as it clashed with a Tranny home game.
