It's the new school at Dodworth Road cross roads - merger of Holgate/Kingstone. Massive school, looks quality.

It is quality, young un goes there. They have a big plasma the size of a small stadium scoreboard in the entrance hall that has breakfast channel and that on so if they get there early they can watch TV, lockers, state of the art classrooms, ipads and a huge theatre. But she still thinks its only "okay". I keep telling her she should have been wi me at Wombwell High during early 90's when it was getting set on fire all the time, stood on't Hillies waiting for fire engine every week freezing mi knackers off. If we got to school early we couldn't go in, we had to go nicking spice from Tony and Doreens shop.

    Dunt know they're born sithi.

My (older by 10 years) brother was at Holgate from roughly the early to late 70s, and I think I'd have ended up there too had it not become a comp, which caused mum and dad to alter their plans for me!

I remember fondly his tales (and many many drawings) of the likes of Pobbles and Pruth etc. Like me, it sounds like he and his mates spent most of their time ripping the p*ss out of various teachers who were far too smart (and empowered) to ever be bettered by their students. I'll have to let him know the old place is coming down.

Holgate 59-63. Some great mates but the education bit went over my head. Absence of females a problem but Dickie Pym's cold hands ensured I was never tempted to bat for the other side.

Old boys dinner 4 Jan. Ardsley House. Horace and Chisel Davis still go.
