    Regardless ...

I can happily live with the guilt ... it's the exhaust hose I want to sort out!

    No, no, no.

I didn't say an air-con unit moves warm air I said it moves heat energy. Again, it doesn't create any significant heat it just moves it. The actual running or the air-con unit may create a small amount of heat but nothing more significant than any other electrical appliance. What would be the point in creating heat? The fact that you have to keep it running proves that heat returns to the room, that's the heat coming out of the vent. The heat at the back of a fridge is almost all displaced from inside, not created.

If you imagine the millions of cubic miles in our atmosphere and add to that the heat displaced by cooling the inside a few buildings the change would be infinitesimal.

RE: Would something like a Tumble Dryer Vent hose fit?

Probably not explained myself well enough in the original message. It comes with a fairly hard plastic hose about 1.5m in length. An ordinary 'tumble dryer' soft hose wouldn't be any good as the unit kicks out too much heat and would melt it.

The hose it about 2-3 foot too short to make it out through the window so all I really need is another 3 foot of hose to stick on the end of the additional one to get it out of the window without balancing the bugger on a box.

Not sure on pipe diameter, I'll have to check that one tonight when I get home.

Aye ... but I'm moving it between the bedroom and living room so don't want to be cutting two vents ... plus the Mrs wouldn't be reyt happy about me drilling any more holes.
