Don't Luton have a player who has played at every level from non League to the Premier League?

I don’t think anyone is saying that non league players can’t make the step up, of course some can.
It’s just a bit worrying that we’re only being linked with non league players at the moment.
I guess folks are impatient as many clubs we’ll be competing with at the top end (hopefully) have already signed a lot of players.

We are being linked with league players though.

Marc Roberts, Chris Smalling, Michael Antonio, Troy Deeney. Countless players mate. No issue with it personally, always gems to be found. Don't know why we're fussed about being linked with players, they never turn out true anyway

Because it very unlikely that we find 5 gems in one season is it! Of course fans are going to be concerned it’s been a shambles since Wembley.

Yeah but we can also spend a million quid on the likes of Luke Thomas who never really repay that money in performances.

Or X amount on 'big name' players like Oulare and give him 7/8k a week...

There we go again, modern debate, you’re either one end of the spectrum on an issue or the other and nothing in between is allowed.

Like the links to the new manager. ?.
There have been links or rather rumours to players within the league not only non league. You're reading the wrong ones.

I understand why it hasn't been a great pre-season, but I don't fully know how he can (yet) assign that blame towards the board, other than Keith, which I wholeheartedly agree is the wrong choice, a very bad choice. We've replaced Duff now, how does he know the board doesn't have a set amount of targets they want, but wanted to wait and get the new manager's preference first? We got plenty of targets done within a small time-frame last season, we could do exactly the same this season, just a bit later.

Let me just state I’m far from against brining in people for non league, but it’s a risk sometimes they work sometimes they don’t, surely you are a little bit worried about the type of players we are rumoured to be in for. This pre season feels like the season after the championship play offs to me. Probably overrating but we will see.

How do you think some clubs ballance the books or reduce the debt. Some of it goes to running costs. How do you think Peterborough survive. ( forgive me for using em as an example you lot. :)).

Forest paid £2000 in 1977 (£16k today.) for Gary Birtles. Wish we'd find a clone.

That's our point though. The rumours 9 times out of 10 are ballox. Look at the management rumours, Wilder even got suspended with the bookies. I just wouldn't get worked up or start throwing stuff towards the board, not yet. Especially after how well they did last year.

    This too.

EVERY transfer is a risk. EVERY managerial appointment is a risk.

If we sign Messi there's no guarantee of success as he's literally never performed on a wet, windy Wednesday evening in Shrewsbury. Plus he'd financially destroy us even taking into account increased shirt sales, attendance money and other income streams.

If we'd appointed Guardiola there's no guarantee of success. He's never built a side where there's f'all available for wages or transfer fees. Or got a team to operate his 87% possession system in League 1.

The board aren't perfect. They've made mistakes (they've even admitted to a few of them). But they've also sunk £6-7m of their own money into the club to keep it afloat last season. I think they're becoming emotionally invested as well as financially invested in the club, especially JAQ.
