Don’t know the % of seats taken but it looked like they were in about a 3rd of the stand, with plenty of empty seats within that 3rd
It’s a balancing act , anymore than 2,000 and it’s lifts the Ponty end up 8ft . To get anymore on north stand we have to fill the club shop and Redfearns bar with Stewards.
I'm hoping these are just rumours and when we get to a game where a significant away following is likely (Blunts perhaps) we'll see an away end catering for as many fans as we can fit in.
Reason for the 4500 was nice and simple. Poor record of stewarding over recent years. Followed up by a big fine to the club due to poor stewarding at the Stoke game with stewarding company being specifically highlighted in the report for poor stewarding and disgusting comments made by stewarding company employee. Bfc response? Select the same stewarding company for this season. We've only got ourselves to blame for most things sadly
If it's a lack of stewards that's a wasted year and a half getting people trained up. The club should tell us what it would take to be able to sell every seat in the North stand for a game, like it was built to do.
Genuinely? A different company. A different head of the safety advisory group. A willingness to reduce ticket prices to some seats and a backbone
At least now on the official site we have a reason - not a very good one and I wonder how many other clubs are cutting the capacity by several thousand for the same reason but it makes sense - if you cant get the stewards you cant open the seats - its poor though
https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2021/august/birmingham-all-ticket/ I really find this so so poor! It’s impacting no pay on the gate for home fans as well! Nothing better than seeing a full crowd, improves the overall atmosphere! Places like Wigan had 4000 fans in the away end for the super league game with Saint Helens last night Hull KR have sold out the away end at Hull FC today, at Hull City’s ground.
It says in addition to advice from SYP they are short of stewards. Does that mean that there are two separate issues?
But Cov didn't put their tickets on sale until 5 days before the game. We weren't going to promise them 4,000 tickets, get police and stock to cover that, only for them to bring 1,700. Its not a conspiracy, its about managing resources based on likely demand.
