I heard on the radio this morning, that the deal Johnson did with the EU regarding the customs arrangements for NI yesterday, includes EU staff in British government offices, SUPERVISING British customs officers. Is it me, or does this feel like a bit of a humiliation? Or is it Johnson’s idea of taking back control?
The whole subject of Brexit is a complete humiliation for this country. The massive lies told to us by Johnson, Gove et al, the pathetic Remain campaign with that wonderful leadership from Cameron and Corbyn. And the huge displays of bigotry from Farage and his crowd. Not to mention the gullibility of huge numbers of the public who are now so entrenched in their "we won the referendum" stance that they refuse to admit they were fooled and are prepared to put up with the biggest liar ever to take office in Downing Street. Sickening. Rant over.
I think that covers the state of British politics as a whole. That's why I couldn't bring myself to vote on it. Self serving liars or weak as piss the lot of them.
I can understand fully where you're coming from but we must use the democratic process to try to fix these things otherwise all is lost. A vote not cast is effectively a vote for people like Johnson.
The eu vote is the only one ever that I've not voted in purely because I didn't believe a single word that either side said. I've voted in all other elections in the last 30 years
At the end of the day certain parts of the UK have been given preferential treatment. This will not go down easily with other parts which will expect similar. There will be trouble ahead
Not quite correct according to the Irish Times...the EU wanted their own embassy and own officers doing the checks, this plan was turned down but UK officers will do checks on their behalf.
