Not a lack of strike power

He’s said himself that he’s a lot heavier now & hasn’t played the position in a couple of years.

 

The daftest thing a manager could do is lose a game in order to “send a message to the board.” I love these conspiracy theories - how about just saying it as it’s seen - it didn’t look like he knew what he was doing with the subs because….he didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Sometimes the simple answers are the answers, you don’t need to go down some rabbit hole about a manager throwing a game away to make a point.

 

Decent forwards would have put us out of sight before they scored. Cosgrove turning the chance to score a header from 2 yards out and preferring to dive was a particular low point.

 

Cosgrove must be related to Bruce Dyer he was offside more than on! Mind early in the 2nd half he started from his own half and the Lino flagged about 20 seconds later when he was through 1 on 1

 

Harsh on cozzy. Hes not usually offside and I think the lino was a bit of a div personally mate! No changes there then

 

Forwards look alright. A goal for Cosgrove last week, an assist for him this week and a goal for Watters. Plus a goal for Phillips. That's all three of our attacking players who have scored in the last two games. But then we fall apart after the subs. As we did in the previous two games.

Derby in preseason was a warning sign. We looked good going forward, like we could score with every attack, but we also looked like we could concede every time Derby entered our half. That's how it's played out so far.

There's been a problem with our recruitment. Almost everyone is aware of this. But the manager isn't currently doing the best with the squad he's got either. He's also new to the job, so he deserves (a lot) more time. Don't think he's going to get the best out of the players by lambasting to the media though. Take some responsibility mate, that's pretty much what management is about.

 

He'd have fluffed it anyway.

 

Cosgrove really should have scored when lofthouse put in a delightful ball.

 

He’s not trying to lose the game but he’s still getting to know his squad & is telling us publicly for weeks that he needs new players.

It’s not a conspiracy theory for a manager to be saying to his board ‘we’re short of numbers here, I’ve got Cotter right wing & Earl at left back’.

I’m sure he still thought we would win the game with the changes he made or he wouldn’t have made them but in the 3 games I’ve seen so far I think we’re a bit of a mess & his subs are questionable to say the least.

I’m just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt & will see where we are when the squads complete.
