For me you'd allow any EU citizen the right to live where they like BUT they would need to have either a job to come to, means to support themselves or a place on a bona fide course. An EU citizen could come for free, a non EU citizen would have to pay to carry out the process.

Hang on !! That is what I have been saying for months (with the additional caveat of exempting genuine refugees from outside the EU having funds to "carry out the process"). All that has done is get me branded as a xenophobic racist by some on here. Free movement in EU parlance was always "Free movement of labour" When did it change?

And I'm saying that any EU citizen would not pay for for the process just merely prove either of those things. Non EU would pay.

Refugees and asylum seekers are a totally different and separate issue.

Strangely enough Gibraltars First Minister was on The Andrew Marr Show this morning .

Asked by the BBC’s Nick Robinson on the Andrew Marr Show if Gibraltar faced a stark choice between quitting Europe or a sovereignty deal with Spain, the territory’s chief minister Fabian Picardo said: “It’s a red, white and blue Brexit for us. ”We’re not going to change our views on whether we want to stay British or not. We’re going to continue to stay British even if that seems like a very hard choice now.“

First thing.....The red white and blue Brexit.....means nothing.....absolute soundbite balls ,as far as I'm concerned . I don't remember Mr. Picardo saying RWB actually...I just cut and paste the online newspaper
headline to illustrate the point about Gibraltarians view of British Sovereignty .
As to the age comment , it was an assumption that you weren't aware of Gibraltars history of referenda and the fact that they are more British than The British , ( it was a pretty hot topic back in the 60's and 70's ) by being born before some , if not all of those events , as most young sprogs on the forum are . I explained ( if you see SuperTykes reply above ) it was a feeble attempt to atone for using the word ' obviously' in reply to your comment , which on reflection came across as a bit clever-dickish which was not intended . I think the best thing we can do now is leave - it is what the public wanted however much I didn't!

However, before leaving we need to agree and set up publicly listed KPIs that are both quantifiable and consistent through the ONS, so we can all see exactly how much worse (or better) off we are on a micro-economic (personal) and macro-economic (country) level.

On a personal level I'd like to hold the leading Leavers to a time frame for improvement in said metrics, with the understanding that they will publicly apologise and not argue against rejoining if it all goes as wrong as the Remain side predicted. If everything is rosy, then even the hardline remainers would admit they were wrong (including me).

 

I don't know whether you've noticed - but the Leavers aren't in control.

I'd love to be able to agree with you - but the whole thing is so messed up - every one simply gets to blame everyone else and no one apologises for the bad and everyone takes credit for the good. Except Cameron - it's all his fault - and he's gone to make his millions.

What i think is the EU in its current form is finished and will collapse by design, with more nations having there own Brexit.

Given my feelings towards that hypocritical, lying frog-faced f*ckw*t Farage, I'll quite happily blame UKIP for anything from Global warming to our result at Hillsborough tomorrow night if we lose! Seeing as his entire reputation and legacy is based around Brexit, if it was me I'd be doing anything in my power to make it a success, because if it isn't he will certainly get caught up in the backlash and take a lot of the blame.

He still reminds me of the political equivalent of a toddler having a tantrum until he gets his way. Only by the time he gets his way, he has forgotten what he actually wants to do or how to do it.

Given that Johnson, Davis, Fox, Grayling, Patel and Leadsom are the only Leave MPs on the cabinet I take your point about the majority of the cabinet being Remain (and you could argue about the blond gimp Johnson only supporting Leave as a power bid), but they do hold the important jobs for negotiating the exit and forming new trade deals.

Whatever side you were on, it is a mess, and will continue to be a mess. I would be surprised if we recover within my working lifetime (I expect to have 25 years left), and the people in charge are too busy lying, spinning and abdicating responsibility to sort it out in any way that would be good for anyone that isn't already a millionaire.

 

That might happen, but we should have been at the centre of the EU before - making EU policy and pushing it in the direction we wanted it to go in rather than sitting on the edges and complaining when something different happens. When it comes to the EU, we as a country were the equivalent of the awkward teenager hiding at the back of the disco and wondering why the girls aren't interested.
