Why was Oduor , Bahre or J Williams not in the starting 11? No worse if not better Schmidt, Ritzmaier and Ben Williams ? Or even Dougall in midfield with Mowatt. Surely they could have done a better job at some point in this abysmal season than some of the above? Certainly the team from yesterday was carrying passengers who just did not compete in the second half. Even Victor A had more pesence than Schmidt and could have contributed more. I have a feeling yesterday was the final nail in the coffin and in bottom position after 40 games ...well the table does not lie. Is it 8 wins in 40 games

Love all the armchair psychologists deciding Woodrow is unhappy because of where he’s playing.

I keep saying this, but please just go and watch one game from last season. Especially one where Woodrow was playing up top on his own. He was CONSTANTLY in midfield, not up top.

You do keep saying this, but it doesn't make it less wrong.

I know for a fact that I’m right. I remember thinking it at the time. I remember thinking it because he kept being in such an unnatural position for a striker, especially a lone striker. I may have even posted on here about it.

I would also like him to be an out and out striker, but he’s never been that. Even when he was ‘supposed’ to be. At least now he has 2 players ahead of him.

Agree on the last paragraph. Disagree with first - when Moore was injured he basically led the line last season.

Maybe I’m exaggerating the frequency, but I specifically remember watching games last season when Moore was injured where Woodrow kept picking the ball up right in front of the back 4, turning and there being nowhere for him to go.

I've just stuck YouTube on. If you search 'Woodrow Goals 18 19' you'll see that 16 out of his 18 goals were scored inside the penalty area, many within about 10 yards.

The majority from cut backs and crosses from wingers.

He played as a number 9.

Not sure why they didn`t start but I dont think they would have made much difference, there were too many players having off days and we dont win when that happens.

I too remember him playing deep to collect the ball quite a bit last season, but I think that was to do with the system and the way he was isolated up top when Moore was injured etc. Surely the diamond and an AM behind him would permit him to push on and play in his natural position, and not drop deep as he did last year?

I’m glad someone else remembers it too. I honestly thought I was going mad.

He had an attacking midfielder behind him the majority of last season, too, so I’m not sure I agree with your conclusion. He came back past the attacking mid to get the ball on multiple occasions that I remember.
