Interesting statement from Forest on subject.
    In summary:
They only failed due to the late sale of Johnson to Spurs.
Commission said club should have sold first and then bought players after.
Forest feels aspiring clubs at a disadvantage to clubs at top of PL.
PL didn’t act in the same manner they did during the hearing.

Everton was 8 months then the appeal. and no doubt the latest investigation results, will run into next season. Saving their arse again.
We have been left in limbo since June last year. 9 months and no sign of the outcome.

May I ask why? It's not an opinion I've really heard anyone express

Because that’s how all the current “top 4/6/etc” got there, and then they voted in rules to stop anyone else catching them.
I get there is a moral issue around the Saudi owners of Newcastle, but for them to equal the investment Chelsea have received in the last 20 years it will take Newcastle 50 under these current rules.

I’m all for clubs spending if they have the money and aren’t leveraging a debt against the club/stadium etc.

If people choose to put large sums of money into a football club then Isn't that their own business?
You would be allowed to run any other business at a loss if you choose to do so without facing sanctions if you are covering the shortfall.
Moreover I believe a lot of the initial motivation for bringing in FFP rules was to protect the current cartel of clubs at the top of the game in the big leagues. To stop the likes of Chelsea and Man City.
It was a political decision, certainly not one to stop clubs from going bust, or one of the sanctions wouldn't be a fine.

I think the issue to address isnt one of limiting spend it should be aimed at the sources of funds. If an owner had to fund 80% from their own funds and not debt then different decisions would be taken. I think the world of football though has gone too far.

Skills and ability to manage a P&L have gone. We, BFC still approach it this way but bigger clubs don't and more and more clubs in the lower levels aren't either.

the acumen needed today is the ability to build debt against a club, manipulate the instruments and sources and then hide the trail. When the clubs model implodes its swept to a new owner who simply continues this process. There is no wonder dozens of foreign owners wait in the wings. It costs nothing just burdens the club.

i fear its too late to change but its clear that what is considered dodgy and high risk, bordering on moral / legal questions in general business is seen as best practice in football.

Who’s to say Luton haven’t overspent? They’ve got some big earners now….

I reckon they will have spent pretty wisely. Barkley wasn’t exactly a wanted man. Very shrewd signing, like most of their players; their recruitment is outstanding
