If Duff signs I'll give you all my mobile number so you can call me and I'll give you all more likes than @Redhelen :D.

If, and it’s a big if, that this is true, then I would be extremely happy and hopefully the positivity will return to the club and fan base

It would make me consider purchasing a season ticket for me and George.

Just joined out of curiosity and found someone on there who a famous Barnsley landmark is named after.

I'd happily accept Duff coming back but I'd say he's got two huge caveats. One, his last job was a sacking. If he follows that up with another failure then his career would be dead in the water and he knows he may not have as good a squad as last time.
And two, he'll be well aware of our fans' opinion of his long haul remarks and will know full well that the slightest spell of below par performances will have them turning on him in a heartbeat.
I can't see him taking the risk.

I wouldn't be able to trust a word that comes out of Duff's mouth - it's a no from me

I doubt he has any awareness that a few of the biggest fannies on here have taken massive umbrage with a throwaway comment he made on appointment.

Duff would be a great appointment. I’d usually say there’s no chance with ex managers, but his stock is pretty low right now. We could actually be the best job he could get.

Knows the club, knows we’re a decent chance at a promotion, knows, knows some of the players.
If it’s is or Gillingham I’m sure he’ll come back!

Exactly… and I don’t really understand all these posts about not being able to trust him. He would be coming into manage your football club and get them promotion…..not get married to you and have your kids…..you big fannies.

Also, if the board are not interviewing him on the basis that they took umbrage about him leaving then they are not fit to do their role. Personal emotion needs to be put to one side in business.

Get it done. He’s the best manager out there for the job.

    There’s obviously two camps on this one;
    1) the calling people Fannys camp, in full blinker mode
    2) those with memories

I’m in camp two, for me, you just can’t expect any level of increased loyalty to the club from players if the manager has form for not showing it himself.

It wasn’t just a “throw away comment”, it was a promise of a new era and a long term project, a change to the way we’ve been doing things for years now, he played big time on the fans emotions and that’s the hope that killed some of us; instead he exposed many more fans to the stark reality of what the club has now become.

Either way, whomever it is that comes in, it just needs to be someone that the board will back for three seasons or more with a large value buy out clause…. please please please can we have some stability and long term planning?

p.s. I appreciate I’m going against the grain on this one, but I’m pretty sure that’s allowed without the need for name calling.

That's just about every manager who is worth employing though. They're nearly all going to upsticks and leave if offered a better job.
