Re: You asked us what went on that meeting

Added to which the seemingly misleading information (now the accounts have been released) regarding Hill and Robin's budgets.

I think everyone who went should be absolutley congratulated on their integrity. None fo the secret information made in in to the public domain which is a credit to all who attended. But as to why the club divulgedany sensitive information is quite beyond me.

This whole 'secret clique' thing is getting blown out of all proportion.

These meetings are no different from the Supporters' Club Open Meetings that started in the 1990s, when we'd occasionally get John Dennis, Michael Spinks or Danny Wilson as guest speaker, and they'd discuss things on a 'between these walls' basis which would have possibly compromised the club if it had been in the public domain. In the event that anything did leak and caused a problem then I'm sure that future meeting requests would have been turned down.

The only difference these days is that it's easier for information to be leaked, but people who went to the meetings have taken the trouble to provide a summary, within these constraints, for those who were unable to go for whatever reason. I've found the summary notes from the two meetings with Don very useful, having been unable to attend either one (and they were open to anyone to attend, as far as I'm aware).

I fail to see how anyone is at fault here, but for someone like JLWBigLil to be left feeling as he does about this is a real pity, as it means there's one less person willing to take the time to provide these summaries in future. The end result is that non-attendees will end up even more in the dark for future meetings, and the whole conspiracy theory will just perpetuate.

I'd urge everyone to be grateful for the access that we do get, and surely it's not that hard to see why some things have to be kept from the full public domain. It'd be a far, far worse problem if we got no information at all from anyone.

Apollogies for butting in (nothing to do with your signature deetee BTW)...

As i asked the question, i obvioulsy made sure I listened to the answer. And ill quote

me : "do we have any other players with any release clauses?"

*The Don, Glancing over his shoulder towards Sharon*

don: "No, I don't think we do, do we Sharon?"

Sharon (Along the lines of): "No I don't think we do"

But Sharon did concur with Don.

Nothing in the Q or A specified anything about it being just new players...

    Exactly this.

Fans who have spoken to club officials have always been told sensitive information, whether it be in a one to one situation, at supporters club meetings or even smaller meetings like these between BBS users and Don Rowing. As Don said, the club belongs to the fans, those in charge are just looking after it for them. Telling the lifeblood of the club what is going on behind the scenes does no harm to anyone because those privy to that information will not leak it as they know it will damage the club they love. Speaking openly is inclusive not divisive.

I cannot understand the point of view of anyone who has a problem with club officials speaking candidly with the very people who fund the club through buying season and match tickets.

No one at that meeting published the £300,000 release clause until it was out in the open. No one betrayed anyone's trust.

My only problem, the reason I started this thread, was that at the first meeting some false information was given. However, this could well have been given mistakenly, I don't know. I certainly don't have a problem with correct information being given to the very people who the club is there for.

You could get 300k for a poor Championship striker, so any type of success would make that valuation rediculous. Its just bad business, seems that other Championship clubs don't have this problem, I've got no issue with the concept, just don't see why we should let ourselves get sh*fted, Davies would be valued at £1 million + under any other circumstances. Also if Bolton did trigger his clause, I wonder what they bid? £300,001? Bet it wasn't a figure too far removed, like Davies agent wouldn't be telling them what to bid........
