I find the home games a bit of a chore these days. But I had a spring in my step when I saw he was in the team. And he didn’t let us down did he? Mustard.
Yes class act plays the ball fast keeps things ticking over then all of a sudden plays a great ball thqts splits a defence like the one to o keffe 1st half or the one that was ruled offside
I posted this after the Cambridge match back in November when he came on after 8 minutes as a sub fir Watters. "There's one lad on that pitch today in a pink shirt who oozes pure class. He's on a different level to any other player on the pitch. Not hit one bad pass. Every pass found the man whether 5 yards or 40 yards. Looks like he's got oodles of time on the ball. Doesn't panic. Positioning perfect. Very composed. He came in for the usual stick on here after a couple of performances when we hadn't really seen him play. I do hope that, on the basis of that 45 minutes, some folk might realise that players need time to settle. He's our number 50. His name is Nwakali." I'm posting it again because it emphasises the fact that, as fans, we have to be patient with players and give them time to transition. Kelechi was being given stick on here when people hadn't even seen him play.
It was so obvious in that Cambridge game that Nwakali was a high-class footballer. So much so that it did not seem a surprise that he had been voted the best player of the tournament in the 2015 U17 World Cup.
Me and my mate were discussing Nawakali on the way home after the match. We concluded that we only saw him put a foot wrong once. Why he isn’t first on the sheet is puzzling, unless there’s something about squad rotation.
I think he's the best passer at the club, he's calm and fast at playing the ball just keeps play moving. Off the ball I don't think he does as much as connell.
I think Clarke is doing a good job with him to be honest. Integrating him into English football bit by bit. He's played in Europe, but never the speed and physicality of League One. If he'd have chucked him in the deep end, it would have been a risk IMO.
Only been getting starts against the lesser sides in the league, but expect by the time we play Wycombe and head towards two Yorkshire derbies in February he will be undropable.
