I think you are referring to Roger Windsor aren't you Darfield. ? He was Chief Exec of the NUM and for reasons better
known to himself, he went to meet Col Gaddafi who did indeed donate a not inconsiderable amount of money
to the Unions " fighting" fund. My Uncle who was fully behind Arthur and the other leading lights in the
Union did not like Windsor and often said in private that he had his own "agenda".
There was a suggestion which he always denied, that he was an agent for MI 5 with a remit to discredit Scargill
and the NUM. There was a lot of similar acts of subterfuge going on at that time and there was a suspicion that
the Government were paying certain individuals to spread doubt in the NUM's cause to attempt to break the miners resolve.
It didn't go unnoticed after the strike , that Windsor went to live in France which added further to the lads suspicion
    or cautious mistrust of him.

most seams are named after where they out crop, especially in yorkshire..and this is one of the reasons why one seam may be called by different names depending on where it is mined, ie,Swallowood/haig moor/top haig moor..this is the same seam throughout yorks and notts but has a different name depending on where it is being worked, other seams sharing different names but are exactly the same seam are

    shafton / billingley seam
    sharlston / wales / cudworth / royston / crofton / holywell
meltonfield / wathwood / woodmoor / fox earth
winter seam / abdy / furnace
    stanley main / beamshaw
    kents thick / mapplewell
warren house / barnsley rider..this is actually called rider because it lays about 16 yards above the barnsley seam throughout yorkshire
barnsley seam /,top hards / middle hards / bottom softs
    flockton / deep soft
fenton / old hards / brown mettle
middleton seam little mined in west yorks is actually the parkgate seam
    thorncliffe / middleton main
    silkstone / blocking bed
    beeston / lupset
    halifax hards / gannister

different names for exactly the same seams

even then, some of these seams have other names depending on the exact locality where they were worked and also depending on what market they were going to.for example the swinton pottery seam
