Been to the Brudenell many times and have some great gig memories. Seen some crap there too though! Love the Academies and the Apollo at Manchester. Also love Ruby Lounge there too. Definitely my favourite city for gig venues. Camden Underworld is a pretty decent small venue too.
I've seen some good bands there but I don't get the hype with the venue. Underworld is a great venue.
It’s clear to me Alex is playing at being an Elvis lounge lizard type rock star. I get that it might rub people up the wrong way but I love it. Interesting listening to Richard Ashcroft on Soccer am yesterday he said I never understood the idea of a self deprecating rock star. Me neither, I’d take a cocky get like Turner over 50 shades of beige Chris Martin for example. To each their own though I guess.
Went to see Spring King @PlugSheffield on friday - was a bunch of us, who have seen the Monkeys since the early days (ask Plankton Pete to recant his famous luinch time queue at Jacks Records to bag the last 2 Monkeys/Reverend/Milburn/Harrisons tickets) We were firmly of the view, for proper gig goers - Spring King was a better bet, than £70 for the souless Arena ...... and reading a good few reviews, "we made a good call"
