I met..... ... Winston Churchill in the King George snug on Eldon Street. He had a black dog with him at the time and kept dipping his cigar into his brandy. When I offered him a pint he said "I'm not drinking that weasal piss! get me a Metaxa!!", Reight attitude.
RE: I met.....Neil Warnock I meet this real Barnsley legend on the sea front at Cleethorpes. He was having a pre-match stroll after the players had their pre-match meal.Must have been in the late 70's. His elder brother John was my assessor on one of the coaching courses I did in 2000. I actually sat in an office with him under the main stand at the lane. Tony Currie was wandering about the corridors. (clown) (clap)
RE: played sunday league with Ronnie Glavin a few times in the late 80's Played against him once I Was marking him!!!...well I say marking I kind of waved at him as he went past...only time I never minded tho'(nodding2fingers)

Bill Shankly I was only about 11 at the time, but we had a nice little chat about the Barnsley v Chester game [maybe he was doing a bit of scouting on Rush for Liverpool]. absolute gent, didn't make me feel like I was bothering him, in fact it was him who was doing all the asking.
Allan Clarke....... ...was one of the first playeres that I really remember from watching The Reds as a kid. I watched them in previous years but Clarke is the first names that springs to mind. Then on Saturday he is the guest of honour in the Legends Suite and comes down to the studio to do an iterview for Oakwell1575am. As you all know by now, I host the first part of the show and have the complete privelidge of interviewing him. What a total and complete gentleman. Nuff said! By the way, in 1994 I was at the front of the stage at a Garth Brooks concert at Sheffield Arena (8th October and totally awesome) when during a rendition of the Billy Joel classic 'Shameless' he walked to the front, trod on my finger and broke it. I was invited to the show in Dublin a couple of weeks later and gien full VIP treatment for the full day. Even played golf with him and Travis Tritt (country fans will know who I mean). What a day that was!
